摘要: Improved spray drying apparati, and methods of use thereof, have been developed. The spray drying equipment includes a primary drying chamber and a secondary drying apparatus which includes tubing having a length sufficient to increase the contact time between the drying gas and the droplets/particles to dry the particles to the extent desired, at a drying rate and temperature which would be too low to provide adequate drying without the secondary drying apparatus. The secondary drying apparatus increases the drying efficiency of the spray dryer system without increasing the drying rate, while minimizing loss in yield. Te secondary drying apparatus can include multiple secondary apparati, which are independently controlled for temperature and/or have different dimensions (cross-sectional areas and/or lengths), to allow for optimization of drying conditions. For example, in one embodiment, the temperatures of the secondary appararati are set to gradually increase, or decrease, enabling the particles to be dried at multiple temperatures and drying conditions. In another embodiment, the apparati have different dimensions to alter the velocity at which the particles are dried, to accommodate changes in particle aggregation or other properties affecting product yield. A preferred application for the spray drying process and equipment is in the production of microparticles, between about 1 and 200 &mgr;m in diameter, which can be used to deliver therapeutic and diagnostic agents.

摘要: A drying tunnel applicable to products of fruits and vegetables for drying, using ambient temperature dry air. The tunnel has an outer casing fitted with two independent stories which has openings at the ends of the upper floor, which crossed inside in an upward direction by a conveyor belt which is in turn crossed in a counterflow direction by a particular flow of drying air at ambient temperature. Humidity of the products is absorbed by traveling along the conveyor belt which passes through the upper flow. The upper floor is blown by fans treated by air passing through a refrigeration evaporator, condenser, and compressor located on the upper floor. Air curtains are at the tunnel openings to minimize escaping air. Air filters are included to eliminate suspended particles from the product surface.

摘要: A metering conveyor adapted to move a controlled volume of grain. The conveyor incorporates a series of carriers that can each be switched between a scooper assembly and a blocker assembly. The ratio of scooper assemblies to blocker assemblies determines the volume of grain that is metered for a predetermined conveyor speed. The conveyor is modular and is especially suited for a modular rectangular grain dryer. The conveyor further includes a paddle that is adapted to move grain to a discharge chute.

摘要: The cyclone heat exchanger according to the invention comprises a set of cyclones for preheating powdered raw material. The set of cyclones is divided into a high temperature part (1) and a low temperature part (2) mutually interconnected by a tube (4) with a return loop (40) which is located below the lever of lower cyclone (21) of low temperature part (2). The powdered raw material is transferred from the low temperature part (2) to the high temperature part (1) by means of a transport tube (50), fed with hot transporting gas. The high temperature part (1) and the low temperature part (2) are located in such a way, that the connection of the warm gas input (130) of the highest cyclone (13) of high temperature part (1) is located above the connection of warm gas input (210) of lower cyclone (21).

摘要: A device for treating particulate product has a process chamber for receiving and treating the product. A bottom of the process chamber is constructed from substantially plane baffle plates overlapping each other with slots formed between said overlapping plates. Process air can be introduced into the process chamber via said slots between said plates with a substantially horizontal component of motion. Said baffle plates and the resulting slots are arranged in such a way that two opposite flows of incoming process air are produced. Said two opposite flows are directed along a substantially horizontal path and meet along a breaking-up zone and are then deflected to form an upwardly directed, substantially vertical flow.

摘要: An enhanced apparatus and method for cleaning, drying, and disinfecting brine shrimp eggs is provided. The apparatus may have a blower and a furnace that provide pressurized, dry air to a screening device. The screening device may include a vibrating screen designed to release detritus while retaining viable cysts. The dry air may convey the cysts upward and suspend them within a containment vessel. The containment vessel may have a lower, narrow section and an upper, wide section; the larger airflow velocity within the narrow section suspends the brine shrimp eggs while the remaining detritus moves upward, into the wide section, in which the airflow velocity is lower. The air suspension rapidly dries the cysts to maintain a high percentage of viable eggs. Ultraviolet lights disinfect the cysts within the narrow section. An extractor with a cyclone separator draws material from the wide section and removes viable eggs from the detritus.

摘要: An apparatus for drying a generally flat substrate that has been cleaned has a rotatable support for supporting the substrate, a substrate drying assembly, and a controller. The substrate drying assembly includes a substrate drying assembly support arm, an outlet for applying liquid to an upper surface of the substrate, and an outlet for applying a drying vapor to the upper surface of the substrate. The substrate drying assembly is configured to position the liquid applying outlet and to position the vapor applying outlet above a portion of the substrate. The controller causes the substrate drying assembly to be retracted over the upper surface of the substrate at a faster rate near a center of the substrate than near a periphery of the substrate.
