摘要: A processor and process method for preparing pre-cooked ground meat. An augered heated tube allows meat to be cooked as it is tumbled and moved through the tube. The cooked ground meat can be mechanically degreased through a mechanical process such as spinning to provide a meat product that has a controlled fat content. Then the meat can be packaged and irradiated to provide a pre-cooked meat product that is easy to use and that has a long shelf life.

摘要: The pusher type furnace comprises an entry chamber (2) associated with a charging device (30) to transfer charge holding devices (a through q) carrying the charges to be heat-treated. The entry chamber is followed by a rectilinear heat treatment chamber (3) and the latter by an exit chamber (4). The entry chamber and the exit chamber may each be separated from the heat treatment chamber by means of doors (15, 16). A pusher device (5) operating in a cyclic mode pushes all charge holding devices in each cycle forward by the length of one charge holding device in the direction of charge travel (X). For separate temperature and atmosphere control in subsequent sections (8, 9 and 10) of the heat treatment chamber (3), two doors (11, 12) are provided. The row of charge holding devices (a through p) is separated into several sets of charge holding devices (31, 32, 33) by means of mobile skid sections (71, 73) moving a downstream set of charge holding devices (31) and an upstream set of charge holding devices (33) away from a central set of charge holding devices (32) to create gaps (34, 35) for the two doors (11 and 12) to close.

摘要: Steel charges are heated to rolling temperature in reheating furnaces. It is standard practice for the charge to be moved through such a furnace on continuous water-cooled tubular supports crossing the furnace in a straight line. The supports obstruct charge heat-up to the desired temperature at the points where the charge is in contact with the tubular supports. A lateral offset of the tubular supports or similar designs have been unable to overcome this disadvantage. The tubular supports of the present reheating furnace are therefore several times offset from a straight line through the furnace between the furnace inlet and the furnace exit or, in the case of a furnace with a fixed hearth in the soaking zone, the furnace inlet and the fixed hearth. Each tubular support section between two such offsets is shorter than the upstream tubular support section. The present arrangement is particularly advantageous for pusher-type furnaces or walking-beam furnaces.

摘要: An ingot pusher furnace of the vertical air flow type includes distributing means for preventing short circuiting of a gaseous medium around the ends of ingots to be heated so as to produce a more uniform heat transfer along the entire length of the ingots. The distributing means comprises a pair of air distribution baffles which force the gaseous medium contained in an enclosure to flow towards the center portions of the ingots so as to facilitate uniform heating throughout the ingots. In an alternate embodiment, the distributing means comprises a pair of movable side baffles which is movable to an angled position so that its lower ends are adjacent the ends of the ingots.

摘要: An apparatus for soaking steel pieces including cold steel pieces and hot steel pieces. The apparatus is of the type which includes: a soaking furnace for subjecting the steel pieces to a soaking treatment; a preheating chamber for preheating the cold steel pieces before the cold steel pieces are introduced into the soaking furnace, the preheating chamber being connected to the soaking furnace for receiving waste heat from the soaking furnace for the preheating treatment and having an outlet portion for discharging the cold steel pieces; and a mechanism for introducing the steel pieces into the soaking furnace and for advancing the steel pieces through the soaking furnace. The soaking furnace has: a heating zone for heating the steel pieces; a soaking zone being communicated to the heating zone and having a heat source for heating the steel pieces, which have been heated in the heating zone, at a higher temperature than in the heating zone for the soaking treatment, the soaking zone having a ceiling higher than a ceiling of the heating zone; and means for connecting the heating zone to the preheating chamber for feeding waste heat.

摘要: The present hearth is composed of a plurality of support bars, which are made of graphite in the preferred embodiment, and which are arranged to be parallel to the length of the hot zone chamber and orthogonal to the mouth of the vacuum furnace. Each of the support bars has a groove, or a channel, formed in its upper surface and disposed in each of said channels is one or more rotatable molybdenum load support rods each of which has been impregnated, or coated, with titanium nitride. To the underside of each support bar there are secured molybdenum bar support rods which are located and secured to hold the support bars away from coming in contact with the heating elements of the hot zone.

摘要: A top-fired, lifting or walking, hearth-type furnace includes an upstream preheating zone and a downstream primary heating zone. Stock, such as billets or ingots, to be heated is passed sequentially through the preheating zone and primary heating zone. Each zone has therein support members for supporting the stock. The support members of the preheating zone are at a level higher than the support members of the primary heating zone, with a step therebetween, whereby hot flue gases in the preheating zone circulate upwardly around the support members therein and the stock supported thereby. A lowering and lifting apparatus is located at the step to transfer stock from the support members of the preheating zone to the support members of the primary heating zone.

摘要: A method for controlling, in a reheat furnace of the type having a heat zone through which metal work pieces are moved over support skids and a soak zone in which slab temperature differentials are reduced, the variations in deformation resistance of the workpiece due to temperature gradients produced by the skids. This method first provides for establishing, for the furnace and the workpiece to be rolled, an initial skid mark characteristic expressing, at the time the workpiece leaves the support skids and enters the soak zone, the ratio of the deformation resistance of the workpiece in a region immediately contiguous the skids to the deformation resistance of the workpiece in a second region which is located approximately mid-way between adjacent skids. A skid mark decay characteristic defining the decay of the skid mark characteristic as a function of time elapsed after the workpiece has left the skids is then established. From the use of the decay characteristic and the initial skid mark characteristic, the time the workpiece should remain in the soak zone in order for the workpiece to achieve satisfactory properties for subsequent rolling operations is determined.Adaptive updating of the skid mark characteristic may be achieved by observing the actual forces occuring during the rolling process. The skid mark characteristic provides an indication of the condition of the support skid insulation and may assist in planning of furnace maintenance.

摘要: A billet is transported through an improved furnace by convention means and is heated in the furnace by an external burner unit in which fuel and air are combusted together and then injected at a high velocity into a semi-cylindrical chamber of the furnace tangentially to the billet so as to create a hot vortex of gases circulating around the billet along the length of the furnace. The temperature of the hot gas vortex within the furnace is sensed by means of a thermocouple placed close to the billet surface but not in contact with it so as to sense the temperature of the billet as a function of the temperature of the circulating gas. The temperature of the injected gas is thereby controlled to heat the billet to a desired temperature and then maintain it at that temperature.
