摘要: A method and apparatus for simultaneously measuring the volume and the density of a fluid stream and totalizing the product of the two measurements to provide the mass units of fluid delivered by the stream. The apparatus also includes means to accommodate zero suppression of the density measurements so that the final product is a numerical indication of the actual number of mass units delivered.

摘要: A total mass flowmeter which employs a conventional flowmeter turbine to produce output pulses at a rate directly proportional to the volume flow rate. A number of different, constant frequency clock pulses are then transmitted to a frequency divider periodically, the said number being directly proportional to density. The divider output pulses are then stored and inserted half way between the leading edges of the turbine meter output pulses. A unique circuit deletes every tenth meter output pulse. A decade divider provides this output with a synchronizing gate for the clock pulses.

摘要: 1,155,588. Measuring fluid-flow rate electrically. P.J.F. CALVET. June 28, 1966 [June 28, 1965; Feb. 17, 1966; June 22, 1966], No.29032/66. Heading G1N. In apparatus for measuring the rate of flow of a fluid by its coating effect on a heated resistor, the resistor is fed with a pulsed current and the rate of change in temperature of the resistor after each pulse is measured to determine the fluid-flow rate. As shown Fig. 1, a timer B causes an EMF source E, e. g. an oscillator to feed power to a resistance transducer or thermocouple CA until its temperature reaches a first predetermined value, when a first trigger circuit B1 is operated and oscillator E is disconnected from the transducer CA. When the falling temperature reaches a second predetermined value a second trigger circuit B2 operates and the time interval between the operation of B1 and B2 is measured at IM and is indicative of the rate of fluid-flow. The switch S may constitute a vibrating relay which connects transducer CA alternately to the EMF source E and a measuring amplifier Ap Figs. 3, 5 (not shown). In further embodiments the rate of change of temperature of the transducer is sensed by measuring the temperature difference over a fixed time interval in the heating cycle Fig. 7 (not shown), or by continuously differentiating an electrical signal representing its temperature Fig. 9 (not shown). The principle of the invention may be used to measure other parameters, e.g. the viscosity of a fluid, by applying pulses of momentum to a paddle and measuring the rate of charge of its displacement.

摘要: To measure the volume of fluid that has flowed past a point and to actuate a sampler at certain increments of this volume, a stylus of a flow meter moves to a distance from the center of rotation of a rotating function disc, which distance is related to the height of a float in the fluid stream, with the function disc including a conductive portion having different arcuate lengths at different distances from the center of rotation so that, as the disc rotates, the stylus circumscribes a circle around the function disc at a distance related to the height of the float and is in contact with the conductive portion for a period of time that represents the rate of flow of the fluid that corresponds to the height of the float. Pulses representing in number the rate of flow of the fluid during each revolution are applied to a counter while the stylus contacts the conductive portion which accumulates them to form the integral with respect to the time of the rate of flow, with the output from the counter being used to actuate a liquid sampler at predetermined increments of volume of fluid flowing past the float.

摘要: A meter for fuel or other liquid using an upstanding precision bore for containing the liquid and a pressure transducer disposed in the lower part of the tube to generate electrical signals dependent on the liquid level of the same. A control system and trip means registers the time elapsing as liquid is withdrawn from the tube between two selected liquid levels, to cause the tube to be refilled at a further level and to disable the meter and actuate an alarm at a fourth level signal. An electronic differentiator provides rate of change signals from the pressure dependent signals for logging, indication and the like, and the output of the differentiator can be held at a selected level signal for the refilling of the tube.

摘要: For the purpose of indicating the total volume of fluid flow in a pipeline corrected to 60* (Fahrenheit) barrels, the pulse train output of a turbine flowmeter is corrected for temperature by eliminating every tenth pulse leaving sets of nine and adding a number of pulses to the sets of nine, which number is directly proportional to that contained in an analog-to-digital converter storage register. The converter is connected to circuits which produce a D.C. voltage proportional to the temperature of the fluid. An inverter, two differentiators and an OR gate are employed to produce pulses at a pulse repetition frequency (PRF) twice that of the incoming pulses. The pulse adding circuit has a set of first, second . . . eighth AND gates which receive pulse trains of pulse repetition frequencies f, f/2, f/4, f/8, f/16, f/32, f/64, and f/128, respectively, where f is twice the PRF of the incoming pulses. The first, second . . . eighth AND gates are controlled by the first, second . . . eighth flip-flop in the register, where the first, second . . . eighth flip-flops correspond to the most, next most . . . least significant digits of the number contained in the register. An insertion circuit adds the pulses to the sets of nine at a time T/2 before and/or after one pulse in one set of nine, where T f/2. A divide-byten divider is connected from the AND gates to reduce the number of added pulses so that they vary the average number of pulses recorded by a counter that counts the sets of nine plus the added pulses. The number of counted pulses then can vary from 90 percent to about 110 percent of the incoming pulses for register binary numbers from zero to 11111111. An indicator is connected from the counter to indicate the count thereof.
