摘要: A method and implementation disclosed for detecting interference. A state machine controller is provided for establishing an interference detection cycle including a power sample period and a periodic sampling interval. A receiver component, responsive to the state machine controller, performs an energy measurement at a predetermined wireless band during the power sample period. A threshold comparator determines whether the energy measurement exceeds a predetermined threshold. A processing implementation processes the energy measurement to determine whether it corresponds to interference on the predetermined wireless band, if the measurement exceeds the predetermined threshold. A deactivating implementation is used to instruct the state machine controller to await the next power sample period, if the energy measurement does not exceed the predetermined threshold.

摘要: A control arrangement and method is provided for detecting and responding to disturbances in electrical power systems. In a preferred arrangement, an integration is initiated that is based on a comparison of actual voltage of a source and a reference voltage. When the integration exceeds a predetermined value, the source is considered unreliable. Also in a preferred arrangement, a determination is made as to whether or not the disturbance is a downstream fault condition. For example, this is useful for applications where a transfer is made from a first source to a second source when predetermined disturbances are detected. In this manner, the transfer of the load to a second source is avoided which would continue the supply of the downstream fault. Additionally, the arrangement distinguishes between various degrees of disturbances to permit appropriate response based on the severity and type of disturbance. For example, a first immediate response, i.e. without intentional delay, is provided for more severe disturbances while a second delayed response is provided for less severe disturbances. The control arrangements transfers the load to an alternate source of power via the use of a high-speed source-transfer switching system that both avoids undesirable current flow between sources and minimizes undesirable transfer delays.

摘要: The exciting current of a current transformer is calculated and added to the measured secondary current to produce a corrected signal. The exciting current is calculated by first calculating the current transformer induced voltage. The induced voltage is calculated from a parameter related to secondary current and known characteristics of loop impedances through which secondary current flows. The parameter related to secondary current may be the secondary current itself, or a voltage associated with secondary current flowing through an impedance. The calculated induced voltage is then applied across an inductor having similar magnetic properties as the current transformer. By scaling the applied voltage properly, the current flowing in the inductor is approximately proportional to the exciting current of the current transformer. The current in the inductor is measured, and, by applying an appropriate constant of proportionality, the exciting current of the current transformer is determined. A corrected secondary current is then calculated by adding the calculated exciting current to the measured secondary current.

摘要: Apparatus for determining the frequency of an ac power signal, includes sensing circuitry to sense the ac signal. In a digital implementation of the invention, a double average of the samples is generated by a processor as the sum of the most recent sample, twice the next most recent sample plus the third most recent sample. The least mean square of a running window of the most recent double average signals is generated to avoid discontinuities at the zero crossings and to reduce the effects of noise. The frequency is determined from this least mean square value of the window of double average signals. As implemented in a protective relay, a trip signal is generated if the frequency is out of limits.

摘要: An Internet-based system and method is set forth for estimating power availability and business process downtime based on specific attributes of a building and business process components contained therein. The system includes a power availability estimator computer coupled to a plurality of user computers via a computer network. The power availability estimator computer can be programmed with a power availability estimator engine, which calculates or estimates the probability that electrical power will be available and/or downtime for a particular building on an annual basis. The power availability estimator engine includes a plurality of equations that cooperate with a probability density function graph to calculate the estimated power availability and business process downtime.
