A first transmission network is situated in the forward path between the input and output terminals and has a variable transfer coefficient; second and third transmission networks are situated in the feedback and feedforward paths, respectively, between the input and output terminals. Each of these networks has a fixed transfer coefficient and the transfer coefficients of the feedback and feedforward networks having polarities opposite each other.

    摘要: A variable delay equalizer comprises two directional couplers, each having a pair of input terminals and a pair of output terminals. A pair of variable phase shifters are inserted respectively between the output terminals of the first coupler and the input terminals of the second coupler. A third variable phase shifter is connected between the second output terminal of the second coupler and the second input terminal of the first coupler. This equalizer makes it possible to shift the peak delay frequency as well as to change the value of the peak delay itself.

    摘要: A two-port network for use in transmission line equalizers in repeatered wide-band communication systems is disclosed. The network includes a single one-port uniformly-distributed RC network connected between corresponding terminals of the input and output ports. A capacitance element is connected between the terminals of the output port. The two-port network is adapted to integrated circuit construction and may be cascaded through buffer amplifiers. Alternatively, the two-port network may form a part of a feedback equalizer. In one embodiment, the capacitance element is a variable-capacitance diode controlled by a peak detector. In another embodiment, the two-port network is used as the feedback circuit.

Tuning of the frequency rejection notch is achieved by inserting an electrically controlled phase shifter having 360* of adjustment in the short transmission line. Two identical cascaded sections of the subject notch filter are required for coupling to the input of a saturated RF power amplifier, such as the output amplifier of an amplifier chain utilized in present day radar transmitters, in order to obtain the desired frequency rejection notch, due to the gain compression characteristic present in an amplifier when driven into its saturation region.

    摘要: A line conditioner includes plural amplitude and delay equalization circuits which are both physically and functionally independent, whereby both gain and delay in a transmission system can be adjusted with negligible mutual interaction. All adjustment potentiometers are part of a common front panel module which, once adjusted, can be transferred to a replacement system without requiring further adjustment. A novel input amplifier circuit provides good noise figure control and permits wideband linear gain (db) adjustment as a function of potentiometer rotation. Each delay equalization section employs an economical active gyrator circuit as part of a band pass filter having unity gain across the frequency band. Each amplitude equalization circuit likewise includes an economical active gyrator and a gain control potentiometer arranged such that the product of the circuit gain and bandwidth remains substantially constant as the potentiometer is adjusted.
