    摘要: An information processing apparatus in which compressed picture information of different compression encoding formats may be generated and recorded on different recording mediums without enlarging the size of the apparatus. An MPEG2 encoder 2 is supplied with the picture information and encodes the input information in the MPEG 2 format under control by a CPU 3 to generate an MPEG 2. A hard disc drive 5 records the MPEG2 bitstream on the hard disc under control by the CPU 3. The CPU 3 boots a software on a memory to perform transcode processing to generate an MPEG 4 bitstream from the MPEG2 bitstream. The motion vector as found in transiently decoding the MPEG2 bitstream into the picture information is inherited and re-used as the motion vector for the MPEG 4 bitstream. A memory card drive 6 records the MPEG 4 bitstream on the memory card under control by the CPU 3.

To generate trial listening data containing dummy data, a pseudo random number R is generated first. A remainder r of R divided by 128 is calculated. The remainder r is coded and incorporated into high sound quality restoration data. A bandwidth limitation region of trial listening data is replaced by dummy data starting from its rth bit. As a result, the head position of the dummy data in the trial listening data varies frame by frame, whereby the safety of the trial listening data can be increased.

    摘要: A method and an apparatus for recording and playing back monitored video data for recording monitored video data generated continuously for a long time on a magnetic tape, with less S/N degradation by shortening the operation time of the VTR to suppress the degradation of the magnetic tape, recording head, and other mechanical items, wherein video signals from a video camera are converted to digital signals in an A/D converter, compressed and encoded in a compression encoder & decoder circuit, then transferred to a time axis compression circuit including the first memory, the second memory, an SCSI controller, and a hard disk unit, thereafter compressed on the time axis and recorded on the magnetic tape loaded in a D-VHS standard VTR via an I/F circuit. Compressing the video data from the compression encoder & decoder circuit on the time axis in the time axis compression circuit makes shorter the recording time of the video data on the magnetic tape than the actual recording time of the video camera, whereby the VTR is only required to record video data intermittently on the magnetic tape and that a general home VTR can be adopted as the above VTR, moreover the magnetic tape itself is prevented from damages.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for simultaneously recording and displaying video signals from two different video sources. The apparatus comprises a main channel processing circuit/logic (148), a second channel processing circuit/logic (150), and common circuitry/logic (152). The common circuitry comprises a digital video encoder pipe (112) that decodes both a first and second encoded video signals. The main channel processing circuit processes a first decoded video signal utilizing a first clock to form a main picture for display. The second channel processing circuit processes a second decoded video signal to form a PIP picture for combination with the main picture for display. The PIP picture is produced using a second clock signal that is independent from the first clock signal. In a record mode, the second channel clock is coupled to the second channel processing circuit to produce a recordable signal using a digital encoder. The recordable signal also forms the PIP picture that is coupled to the main channel processing circuit to produce a PIP picture that is used to monitor the recording process.
