    摘要: An automatic splicing apparatus and methods thereof are provided herein for splicing together two ends of a sheet of tire material on a tire building drum. The apparatus comprises a frame, a splicer foot assembly, and a splicer roller assembly. The frame is configured to support the apparatus relative to the drum. The splicer foot assembly and the splicer roller assembly are independently longitudinally translatable relative to the frame. The splicer foot assembly includes a splicer foot having forward lower preparation rollers and rearward lower splicer rollers, and upper preparation rollers configured to operate in coordination with the forward lower preparation rollers to pull the two ends of the sheet of tire material together over the splicer foot. The splicer roller assembly includes upper splicer rollers configured to act in coordination with the rearward lower splicer rollers to splice the two ends together.

The method of manufacturing a product having a complex shape by using at least one jig and at least one mandrel is configured to include: a preparation step of preparing a prepreg sheet and a cylindrical first mandrel around which the prepreg sheet is wound; a first rolling step of forming a first stacking surface by winding the prepreg sheet around the first mandrel; a second mandrel preparation step of locating a second mandrel on the outer circumferential surface of the first stacking surface; a second rolling step of forming a second stacking surface by winding the first stacking surface and the second mandrel with the prepreg sheet; and a core removal step of removing the first mandrel and the second mandrel.

    摘要: Medical devices having at least a component, such as a catheter balloon, stent cover and vascular graft, formed of ultrahigh molecular weight polyolefin, such as ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene. The device component is formed from ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene that has been processed so that it is microporous and has an oriented node and fibril structure. The device component expands compliantly at low strains and are substantially less compliant at higher strains. The invention also comprises methods for making such medical devices, including the steps of compacting a polyethylene powder and deforming it to impart the oriented structure.

    摘要: A method for the manufacture of a tubular article such as a component for deformation into the shape of a pneumatic tire utilizes a flexible carrier (15) for transfer and deformation of sheet material (9) to extend in a tubular form between the carrier and a former (25). The carrier (15) may extend around the former and support the sheet material between the former (25) and carrier (15) particularly if the former is of a type expansible to press the sheet material outward against the carrier. The axial ends (35) of the carrier (15) when in a tubular form around the former may be used axially to space and support a pair of tire beads (36). The sheet material (9) may have an axial length sufficient for it to extend beyond each axial end of the carrier whereby it may be turned radially outward around the respective tire beads.
