摘要: A heat-seal band is provided that incorporates voltage sensing wires, such as signal wires or conductors that are separate from current load carrying wires or conductors. This provides two discrete electrical paths: a voltage sensing path, and a current transmission path. The voltage signal conductor(s) in the voltage sensing path may be insulated to mitigate any non-desired influence by means of the voltage signal conductor's exposure to thermal or electrical influences from the current transmission path, including current transmission paths defined through conductive tabs that connect the heat-seal band to the current load conductors. The voltage signal conductor may connect at a node to the tab to band (tab/band) junction, which is defined at an intersection of the heat-seal band's conductive tab and the band that directs heat into a workpiece. Additional or a second set of voltage sensing conductors may be electrically connected to the heat-seal band at a location that is spaced from or in a subset of the first set of voltage sensing conductors. The second set of voltage sensing conductors may provide a secondary voltage sensing arrangement as a verification tool for evaluating temperature discrepancies between their locations and those of the first set, indicative of heating non-uniformity about the heat-seal band.

摘要: Assemblies, apparatus, and methods for heat sealing and monitoring are disclosed. A dual heat-sealing system includes a heat seal bar assembly with process monitor that allows to quickly change out heat bands and ensure that the effective length of the heat band matches the width of the seal (of the material being sealed), providing consistent and superior seal quality. A heat seal bar assembly includes multiple heat bars sized to easily match the size of the pouch being sealed. The heat bars are removable and replaceable. The heat bars are provided with at least one memory chip. The memory chip allows for storage and retrieval of information regarding the replaceable heat bar.

摘要: A system for coupling pipes includes a first pipe having a tapered, spigot end; a second pipe having a tapered, spigot end; and a coupler having two tapered socket ends adapted to internally receive the respective tapered, spigot ends of the first pipe and the second pipe. The first pipe and the second pipe are made from a reinforced thermosetting resin (RTR). The coupler comprising a resistive element implanted therein and connected to electrodes extending to an exterior of the coupler. A thermoplastic material is disposed between an exterior of the first pipe and an interior of the coupler. A thermoplastic material is disposed between an exterior of the second pipe and the interior of the coupler. Upon application of electricity to the electrodes, the resistive elements are heated sufficiently to melt the thermoplastic material such that, when the heat is removed, the hardened thermoplastic material seals the first pipe and the second pipe to the coupler. A method of coupling pipes includes disposing a thermoplastic material between an exterior of a first pipe and an interior of a coupler; disposing a thermoplastic material between an exterior of a second pipe and the interior of the coupler; inserting the first pipe and the second pipe into the coupler; and applying of electricity to electrodes of the coupler such that resistive elements of the coupler heat sufficiently to melt the thermoplastic material such that, when the heat is removed, the hardened thermoplastic material seals the first pipe and the second pipe to the coupler.
