Abstract: An actuation mechanism for selective switching of a valvetrain switching mechanism by a linear actuator mechanism includes an actuator arm having a pin contact surface for engaging an actuator pin of a linear actuator mechanism, a switching arm, and a lever axle pivotally coupling the actuator arm and the switching arm and rotatable about a lever axis, wherein the actuation mechanism is configured to rotate about the lever axis based on a selective extension of the actuator pin, wherein the switching arm is configured to selectively act on the valvetrain switching mechanism based on the rotation of the actuation mechanism; and wherein multiple interface positions on the pin contact surface of the actuator arm are each configured to cooperatively engage with the actuator pin at an orthogonal angle to the axis of linear motion of the actuator pin.

Abstract: The present invention concerns a sliding cam system for an internal combustion engine having at least one camshaft, an adjustment element and at least one actuator. The camshaft comprises a carrier shaft with a primary sliding cam element and at least one secondary sliding cam element. Each of the cam elements are arranged so as to be displaceable axially relative to the carrier shaft. Each of the cam elements comprises a shift gate with at least one shift groove. The actuator has at least one actuator pin which engages in the shift groove of the shift gate of the primary sliding cam element according to the necessary switch position of the camshaft. The adjustment element is arranged parallel to a longitudinal axis of the carrier shaft and is axially displaceable in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the carrier shaft and has at least two coupling pins.

Abstract: A latch assembly (500) can comprise a main latch pin assembly (531, 532) comprising a first diameter (D1) on a first main pin face (512, 522), and a secondary latch piston (541, 561) comprising a second diameter (D2) on a secondary piston face (543, 563). The secondary latch piston can be configured to selectively act on the main latching pin assembly. The main latch pin assembly can be biased to oppose the secondary latch piston. The first diameter can be greater than the second diameter. A rocker arm assembly (10) can comprise the latch assembly. A primary arm (100) can be configured to receive the main latch pin assembly. A secondary arm (300) can be configured to receive the secondary latch piston.

Abstract: A valve-actuating device for a valve of a reciprocating piston engine having a coupling apparatus with a locking element able to be brought into a first and second position by a mechanical switching device, the switching device comprising a guide rod and a parallel actuating rod capable of relative movement; a slotted guide element movably mounted on the guide rod for moving the locking element; a triggering element coupled to the slotted guide element; where the slotted guide element and triggering element are clamped between two stops on the actuating rod, each with an associated spring element, where the slotted guide element and the triggering element are displaceable along and/or parallel to the guide rod with the actuating rod; and a blocking element interacting with the triggering element which in a first state, blocks a displacement of the triggering element and the slotted guide element upon the axial displacing of the actuating rod such that the spring elements are preloaded, where in a second state, a displacement of the triggering element and the slotted guide element effects actuation of the coupling apparatus.

Abstract: In one embodiment, a system for synchronizing switching comprises a first body coupled to a pressurized fluid supply and a control fluid supply, and a second body comprising a spool valve that is configured to be contained within a spool valve housing and movable between an open position and a closed position, a biasing element that is configured to bias the spool valve, and at least three fluid channels that are configured to be fluidly connected to the spool valve housing. The first body and the second body are configured for relative movement to each other. The spool valve is further configured to selectively control fluid communication among the fluid channels based on relative movement between the first body and the second body.

Abstract: A latch assembly and valvetrain therewith can comprise a stationary housing comprising a plunger cavity, a plunger in the plunger cavity, and a controllable upper latch member. The plunger can comprise a control end, a plunger body, a spigot body and a spigot end. The controllable upper latch member can be configured to selectively act on the control end and can be configured to switch between locking the plunger from moving along a first axis and unlocking the plunger to slide in the plunger cavity along the first axis. A slidable transverse latch member or rotatable upper castellation body can act as the controllable upper latch member. While a valve bridge and rocker arm can be movable, the housing for the latch assembly can be stationary.
