摘要: Systems and methods for improving fuel economy in vehicles such as Class 8 trucks are provided. In some embodiments, signals indicating states of the powertrain are collected and used to generate fuel rate optimization values. Fuel rate optimization values may indicate a difference between optimum fuel flow rates and actual fuel flow rates during a vehicle drive cycle. Recorded fuel rate optimization values may be used to compare different vehicle configurations during testing, and may also be used to evaluate vehicle performance during real-world operation.

摘要: An engine control system for a vehicle, includes a model predictive control (MPC) module that identifies sets of possible target values based on an engine torque request, determines predicted operating parameters for the sets of possible target values, determines cost values for the sets of possible target values, selects one of the sets of possible target values based on the cost values; and sets target values based on the possible target values of the selected one of the sets; and a first actuator module that controls a first engine actuator based on a first one of the target values. The MPC module determines at least one of the predicted operating parameters at a future point in time based on a predicted value of engine rpm, which is determined based on a plurality of recent engine rpm measurements.

摘要: A method for ascertaining a gas concentration in a measuring gas with the aid of a gas sensor. In a first operating mode of an internal combustion engine, in which the gas concentration in the measuring gas is known, a plurality of value pairs of a respective gas concentration signal and a pressure signal are detected. Proceeding from these value pairs, a compensation parameter and a scaling factor of the gas sensor are ascertained. Subsequently, in a second operating mode of the internal combustion engine, the ascertainment of a gas concentration to be determined takes place, based on a gas concentration signal measured in the second operating mode of the internal combustion engine, and taking the compensation parameter and the scaling factor of the gas sensor into consideration.

The reference governor determines the target value satisfying the upper limit constraint to be a value of the upper limit constraint when a value acquired by substituting, with the value of the upper limit constraint, a variable of a differential function acquired by differentiating the evaluation function with respect to the target value candidate is greater than or equal to zero.

摘要: A system includes a target generating module, a model predictive control (MPC) module, and an actuator module. The target generating module generates a target value for an actuator of an engine. The MPC module generates a set of possible adjustments to the target value and predicts an operating parameter for the set of possible adjustments. The predicted operating parameter includes an emission level and/or an operating parameter of an exhaust system. The MPC module determines a cost for the set of possible adjustments and selects the set of possible adjustments from multiple sets of possible adjustments based on the cost. The MPC module determines whether the predicted operating parameter for the selected set satisfies a constraint and adjusts the target value using the possible adjustments of the selected set when the predicted operating parameter satisfies the constraint. The actuator module controls the actuator based on the target value as adjusted.

摘要: Methods and systems are provided for integrating a VCR engine with a CVT transmission. Responsive to a driver demand, a controller may determine whether to maintain a current compression ratio or transition to an alternate compression ratio based on the fuel economy benefit of the transition and further based on any engine limitations that may be incurred at the engine speed-load following the transition. To improve the net fuel economy benefit while addressing the engine limitation, a compression ratio transition may be combined with a CVT adjusted engine speed-load regime, while maintaining engine power output.

The control module includes a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which is recorded instructions for executing a method for supervisory model predictive control. The control module includes a multi-layered structure with an upper-level (“UL”) optimizer module configured to optimize at least one system-level objective and a lower-level (“LL”) tracking control module configured to maintain at least one tracking parameter. The multi-layered structure is characterized by a decoupled cost function such that the UL optimizer module minimizes an upper-level cost function (CFUL) and the LL tracking control module minimizes a lower-level cost function (CFLL). The system-level objective may include minimizing fuel consumption of the engine and the tracking parameter may include delivering the torque requested to engine.

In select embodiments, a body comprises ash particles, and the ash particles used to form the body may be selected based on their providing one or more desired properties for a given treatment. Various bodies provide for the reaction and/or removal of a substance in a fluid, often using a porous body comprised of ash particles. Computer-operable methods for matching a source material to an application are disclosed. Certain aspects feature a porous body comprised of ash particles, the ash particles have a particle size distribution and interparticle connectivity that creates a plurality of pores having a pore size distribution and pore connectivity, and the pore size distribution and pore connectivity are such that a first fluid may substantially penetrate the pores.

The actuator module controls an actuator of an engine based on at least one of the target values.
