    摘要: A MEMS shutter including: a substrate of semiconductor material traversed by a main aperture, and a first semiconductor layer and a second semiconductor layer, which form a supporting structure fixed to the substrate; a plurality of deformable structures; a plurality of actuators; and a plurality of shielding structures, each of which is formed by a corresponding portion of at least one between the first semiconductor layer and the second semiconductor layer, the shielding structures being arranged angularly around the underlying main aperture so as to provide shielding of the main aperture, each shielding structure being further coupled to the supporting structure via a corresponding deformable structure. Each actuator may be controlled so as to cause a rotation of a corresponding shielding structure between a respective first position and a respective second position, thus varying shielding of the main aperture. The first and second positions of the shielding structures are such that, in at least one operating condition of the MEMS shutter, pairs of adjacent shielding structures at least partially overlap one another.

    摘要: A headset for augmented reality applications is provided. The headset includes at least one eyepiece configured to provide a see-through image to a user via a transparent optical component, and to provide an artificial image through a display, and a dimming shutter configured to adjust a transparency level of the transparent optical component. The dimming shutter further includes an active liquid crystal layer configured to adjust a transparency level according to an electrical power provided between two electrodes, and a photoactive layer configured to adjust the transparency level upon absorption of an ultraviolet radiation for a selected period of time. A default orientation of a host material in the active liquid crystal layer may be in a dark state or in a clear state, when no electrical power is provided. A method and a memory storing instructions to execute the method for use of the above device are also provided.

    摘要: A display system includes: a light source, a light modulator, a recovery device, and a light intensity adjustment device. The light source emits original light that is incident to the light modulator. The light modulator modulates, on the basis of image data of an image to be displayed, the light incident thereto so as to form image light and non-image light. The recovery device recovers the non-image light, and the recovered non-image light is incident to the light modulator. The light intensity adjustment device adjusts, on the basis of the intensity of the non-image light corresponding to the currently modulated image to be displayed, the intensity of the original light emitted by the light source, thus allowing total intensity of the original light and the recovered non-image light that are incident to the light modulator to be kept consistent in modulation periods for different images to be displayed.

    摘要: Forming a light pulse having a plurality of time-dependent frequency components such as a chirped light pulse or a light pulse group and superposing reflected light from different portions of an optical fiber allows detection of changes in effective optical path differences due to physical parameters in the environment of the optical fiber by sensing the optical interference pattern of each light frequency and wavelength. The development of a plurality of interference patterns from each light pulse provides sufficient information for robust demodulation by known methods to produce signals having good fidelity to variations in the physical parameters of interest, particularly vibrations and acoustic waves. The location of the measured physical parameter along the optical fiber can be determined from the time difference between injecting the light pulse and detection of a reflection or Rayleigh backscattering and diffraction index of the optical fiber.
