摘要: The present disclosure provides a DC mechanical circuit breaker that can utilize two switches, one of which can generate zero-crossing with an alternate oscillatory circuit for the other one, which can be a conventional zero-crossing-based AC breaker and can be used in the main circuit. This is different from the conventional single-switch commute-and-absorb method currently used. The present disclosure shows that disclosed circuit breaker improves the fault current extinction and significantly reduces the voltage rate-of-change while creating the current zero-crossing faster compared to the available technology. Thus, disclosed circuit breaker is capable of interrupting high DC currents with minimal arc through a less expensive AC circuit breaker. Simulation and hardware results are provided to show the efficiency of the disclosed circuit breaker.

摘要: An electronic circuit breaker comprising: an input connected to an electric DC power supply; an output connected to a load; the input connected to the output via a switch, said switch is controlled via a switch control line between an “ON”-state and an “OFF”-state; a switch driver connected to the switch control line, said switch driver configured to control the switch; and a switch protection, a voltage detection branch configured to output a first electric potential indicative of the electrical potential difference between the input and the output; a comparator circuit configured to compare the first electrical potential with a first threshold voltage, said first threshold voltage is indicative of an over-current level flowing through the switch; and a gate controller connected to the switch disable line and configured to disable the switch by connecting the switch control line to a potential which causes the switch to enter the “OFF”-state.

摘要: A DC solid-state circuit breaker is provided with a solid-state aided airgap to ensure successful interruption of current at DC conditions for providing an acceptable fail-safe mechanism in case of main power electronics failure. The DC solid-state circuit breaker comprises a sensing and control circuit configured to realize designed functions. The DC solid-state circuit breaker further comprises a power electronics section that includes a first solid-state switching component for normal operations. The DC solid-state circuit breaker further comprises an air gap section disposed in series with the power electronics section and is configured to perform fail-safe interruption and to provide isolation. The air gap section includes an isolation switch which is connected in series to a fail-safe interruption combination of a current commutation switch and a second solid-state switching component, which are connected in parallel.

The controller causes the cutoff operation of the pyrotechnic circuit breaker to perform the cutoff operation when both of a first current value generated based on a first detection signal and a second current value generated based on the second detection signal exceed an overcurrent threshold.

摘要: An overcurrent protection device includes a first input terminal, a second input terminal, a first output terminal, a second output terminal, a breaker, a current sensor, and a comparator. A positive terminal and a negative terminal of a power source are connected to the first input terminal and the second input terminal. The current sensor measures a difference between a current flowing between the first input terminal and the first output terminal, and a current flowing between the second input terminal and the second output terminal. The comparator sends the interrupt command signal to the breaker when a measurement value of the current sensor exceeds a first current threshold value.

摘要: In a multi-terminal DC power transmission system, a common control device is connected to a plurality of individual protective devices via a first communication network. Each of the individual protective devices is configured, when detecting change in current or voltage in a corresponding protection zone, to output a fault signal to the common control device via the first communication network and open the corresponding DC circuit breaker such that the corresponding protection zone is disconnected from the multi-terminal DC power grid and deenergized. The common control device estimates a fault occurrence zone where a fault occurs among a plurality of protection zones, based on a plurality of received fault signals. The common control device requests an individual protective device corresponding to a deenergized protection zone of the protection zones excluding the fault occurrence zone to reclose the DC circuit breaker such that the deenergized protection zone is restored.
