    Abstract: A content selector switch selects, based on a received request for content from a particular remote control device, a multicast network on which to provide the requested particular content. Each multicast network channel of the plurality of multicast network channels is mapped to a respective video channel and each remote control device in the facility (e.g., hotel) is mapped to a respective video channel that the TV controlled by the remote control device stays tuned to. The content selector switch performs the selection by identifying which remote control device in the facility sent the request and selecting the multicast network channel that is mapped to the RF video channel the identified remote control device is mapped to. The content selector switch then provides the specific content on the selected multicast network channel to a multicast-to-channel output device that provides the content on the RF video channel for the TV tuned to that RF video channel to display.

    Abstract: This application provides a multicast service transmission method and apparatus, to deliver a multicast service regardless of whether there is a device supporting multicast in a system, so as to improve flexibility and reliability of the multicast service transmission. The method performed by a session management network element includes: receiving a first message or a second message, where the first message requests to add a terminal device to a multicast service, the second message is used to update a PDU session of the terminal device, and the PDU session is associated with the multicast service; and determining, based on multicast capability information of the terminal device and/or multicast capability information of an access network device, a delivery mode of the multicast service, where the access network device is an access network device currently accessed by the terminal device or a target access network device of the terminal device.

    Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for customized programming through “virtual zoning”, not based on network architecture or geographic region, via a modified electronic programming guide (EPG) provided to devices assigned to virtual zones. Broadcasters may thus provide virtual zone-based “localized” programming to devices regardless of location. The virtual zone-based EPG may be functionally identical to conventional EPGs, and thus fully compatible with existing recipient devices, without requiring custom programming or manufacturer resources. Content may be broadcast to virtual zones via multicast IP streams, with primary content provided to a plurality of virtual zones and custom content provided on a stream-by-stream basis. The resulting system is highly scalable, requiring additional resources only based on the number of virtual zones (which may be numbered in the tens or hundreds, in many implementations) rather than the number of recipient devices (which may be numbered in the millions).

    Abstract: An audio-visual live content delivery system includes a client having access to a provider network via a gateway, an audio-visual live content delivering equipment comprising a multicaster for transmitting audio-visual live contents in multicast form via the provider network, a de-multicaster being able to perform a conversion in unicast form of audio-visual live contents received in multicast form from the multicaster, and a controller managing routing of requests to get audio-visual live contents. The client performs a discovery procedure aiming at receiving information on potential presence and availability of the de-multicaster. When the client intends receiving a targeted audio-visual live content, the client sends to the controller a request providing indication of presence and availability, or not, of the de-multicaster. Then the controller decides how redirecting the client to fulfill the request, according at least to the indication of presence and availability, or not, of the de-multicaster.
