Abstract: According to the invention there is provided a liquid friction control composition characterized as either having a high and positive friction characteristic or a low and neutral friction characteristic, comprising a retentivity agent. The liquid friction control composition may also comprise other components such as a solid lubricant, a wetting agent, a consistency modifier, and a preservative. The liquid friction control compositions may be used to modify the interfacial friction characteristics in sliding and rolling-sliding contact such as steel wheel-rail systems including mass transit and freight systems.

Abstract: The present invention relates to lubricant compositions and can be used for treatment of friction units in different machines and mechanisms in manufacturing processes, the purpose of which is modification of friction surfaces. The basis of the invention is the improvement of lubricant composition, in which as the consequence of the additional use of thickener and wax, the viscosity of lubricant composition sufficient for conversation of uniform distribution of solid component in lubricant composition in broad temperature range is provided; and at the expense of that, the possibility of conservation of lubricant composition in any packaging and bulks, which are usable even under operating conditions of machines and mechanisms, is reached. The lubricant composition acquires the state of gel, that is convenient to put on any friction surface, to deposit on a zone of friction of any friction units. The lubricant composition ensures the receiving of engineering results similar to those, which solid components exhibit using fine-dispersed powder on basis of natural minerals from flaky silicates series and at the same time the sedimentation properties of lubricant composition permit its continuous conservation in broad temperature range without variation of lubrication and modification properties.

Abstract: The title lubricant composition comprises a base oil or base grease and a specified amount of a heat insulating agent comprising (A) an inorganic compound undergoing endothermic melting at temperatures of 1200 DEG C or below and (B) an inorganic powder which neither melts nor decomposes at temperatures of 1200 DEG C or below and which has a thermal conductivity of 0.01 cal/cm.s. DEG C or less and a friction coefficient of 0.7 or less at room temperature added alone or as a combination. This lubricant composition has an excellent heat-insulating effect and is effective in preventing occurrence of thermal crown of working rolls.

Abstract: The present subject matter describes a method for preparation of a lubricant dispersed with carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and a lubricant dispersed with the CNTs prepared thereof. The method comprises ball milling the CNTs and purifying the ball milled CNTs to remove impurities in the CNTs. The method also comprises oxidizing surfaces of the purified CNTs by adding the purified CNTs to a solution comprising at least one oxidizing acid and then refluxing the solution. The oxidized surfaces of the CNTs are modified by adding the CNTs to a solution comprising at least one fatty acid to obtain surface modified CNTs. The method also comprises dispersing the surface modified CNTs in a lubricant to obtain the lubricant dispersed with CNTs.
