Abstract:
The present invention includes methods and compositions that inhibit AKR1C3 enzymatic activity and consequently reduces androgen receptor (AR) transactivation, AR and prostate specific antigen (PSA) expression levels in, for example, prostate cancer, castration-resistant prostate cancer, breast cancer, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL), or a leukemia.
Abstract:
This invention, in one aspect, relates generally to compositions and methods for modulating cellular activities by synthetic opsins. Further, the invention provides method for the use of synthetic opsins for vision restoration and other applications, wherein the amino acid sequence of the synthetic opsin is modified to provide enhanced light sensitivity, kinetics and ion-selectivity.
Abstract:
The present invention includes compositions and methods for preventing one or more cardiac channelopathies or conditions resulting from irregularities or alterations in cardiac patterns caused by an active agent or a drug in a human or animal subject comprising: an amount of a lysophosphatidylglycerol adapted for oral administration effective to reduce or prevent one or more cardiac channelopathies or conditions resulting from irregularities or alterations in cardiac patterns caused by the active agent or drug.
Abstract:
Provided are compositions derived from Beauveria bassiana , Brevibacillus brevis , Streptomyces spororaveus , Paenibacillus elgii , or Streptomyces sp. fermentation, having algicidal properties, and method of use thereof.
Abstract:
Existing methods of extrusion and other techniques to compound host and additives material uniformly disperse the additive in the host. This innovation uses ball milling to a coat a host particle with an additive dramatically reducing the additive required to achieve a percolative network in the host.
Abstract:
The present invention includes compositions and methods for treating a subject with a G protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) misfolded, misrouted, or both misfolded and misrouted protein comprising: obtaining a sample from the subject suspected of having a G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) that is misfolded, misrouted, or both misfolded and misrouted; and providing the subject with an effective amount of a pharmacoperone that prevents misfolding, misrouting, or both misfolding and misrouting of the GPCR protein.
Abstract:
The present disclosure includes proteins toxic to Zebra mussels, its method of production, and uses thereof. The protein was isolated from whole cell broth of Pseudomonas protegens CL145A via anion exchange chromatographic fractionation. The protein was found to be a secondary metabolite with highest expression at the fermentative production harvest stage.
Abstract:
The present invention includes a method for thermodynamic modeling of asphaltene precipitation comprising: calculating the Gibbs free energy for the transition between asphaltene molecules in solution into an imaginary crystalline asphaltene nanoaggregates or asphaltene nanocrystals; calculating the Gibbs free energy for the transition between asphaltene nanoaggregates or nanocrystals redissolving into colloidal asphaltene nanoaggregates using the computer: and predicting asphaltene solubility in a solvent, wherein the predicted asphaltene solubility is used to add a solvent to a liquid, semi-solid, or solid comprising aspahaltenes to prevent, e.g., fouling of a wellbore, pipeline, downstream unit operations, to provide flow assurance for crude oil pipeline network, or for petroleum crude blending.
Abstract:
This invention provides a method for graphene or graphene oxide reinforcement in a metallic thermal spray coating. The incredible properties of graphene and graphene oxide make them attractive options to increase the mechanical properties in a variety of materials. Recent developments in the manufacturing of graphene oxide and reduced graphene oxide powders have greatly reduced their cost, making them viable additives in thermal spray powders for widespread use in industry.
Abstract:
This is generally a method of producing dispersed high quality engineered composite structures using flat flakes of graphene/graphene oxides/reduced graphene oxides in a host as the reinforcing additive of the composite.
