Abstract:
A method and mobile communication system for providing a user defined bundle in a terminal of a mobile broadcast system are provided. The method includes receiving a service guide from a BroadCAST (BCAST) Service Distribution/Adaptation (BSDA), creating a user defined bundle based on a content or a service desired by a user, including the user defined bundle in a user defined bundle subscription request message and transmitting the user defined bundle subscription request message to a BCAST Subscription Management (BSM), and receiving from the BSM a user defined bundle subscription response message in which a user defined bundle subscription and a purchase complete message is included.
Abstract:
Systems, methods and apparatus for producing, distributing and presenting media presentations include identifying, providing and generating a sequence of media segments from a plurality of media presentations, optionally in combination with associated interactive services, so as to define a media channel.
Abstract:
A method for defining a programming schedule for constrained bandwidth network subscribers in response to time-bounded program recording statistics associated with high bandwidth network subscribers.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for generating user profiles based at least upon an analysis of image content from digital image records are provided. The image content analysis is performed to identify trends that are used to identify user subject interests. The user subject interests may be incorporated into a user profile that is stored in a processor-accessible memory system.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for programming content reconstruction in a content delivery system are described. In one embodiment, a method to repair programming content at a receiver controller includes receiving a programming content on the receiver controller from a broadcast transmission; identifying, if present, a portion of the programming content received on the receiver controller that is corrupted; determining in a broadband network, other servers and receiver controllers connected to the broadband network that have an uncorrupted version of the corrupted portion of the programming content; sending a request to one of the other servers and receiver controllers for the uncorrupted version of the corrupted portion of the programming content; and receiving the uncorrupted version of the corrupted portion of the programming content from the one of the other servers and receiver controllers.. Other embodiments are also described.
Abstract:
A method (100) of electronically determining a group preference in a social network from multiple individual preferences of members of the social network is provided. One embodiment of the method (100) uses a combination of an individual's importance to a social network and a social network's importance to the individual as weighting factors when combining the individual preferences to generate a shared set of preferences. This group preference may be used to select content for broadcast to the network, including audio content and video content. A social network group preference determination apparatus (401) can determine the individual's importance to the social network by interrogating or monitoring the communication activity of portable electronic communication devices (402) belonging to the members of the social network.

Abstract:
Method and system for recognizing IP television users. The method comprises: setting up (12) a short range radio link between at least one mobile terminal (1) and a set-top box (2); setting up a connection (13) between the set-top box (2) and at least one server (10) of a television content provider (4), wherein said connection (13) is unicast; authenticating (11) the subscriber corresponding to each of said at least one mobile terminal (1) through a wireless data network (6), obtaining from an identity provider (5) data relating to the subscriber of each mobile terminal (1); providing from said at least one mobile terminal (1) to the set-top box (2) at least one piece of said data relating to the subscriber of each mobile terminal (1); supplying said server (10) with said at least one piece of data relating to the subscriber of each mobile terminal (1) through said connection (13); locating (14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19) the profile of said subscriber from said at least one piece of data relating to said subscriber.
Abstract:
An aspect of the invention relates to a method and apparatus for multiplexing content. In one example, a first transport stream is received. The first transport stream includes a sequence of burst cycles, each of the burst cycles having a plurality of packet bursts respectively associated with a plurality of primary services. In one example, a primary service is a national service. A packet burst stream is received that is associated with a secondary service. In one example, a secondary service is a regional service. The first transport stream is multiplexed with the packet burst stream to produce a second transport stream. The second transport stream includes a deterministic relationship between the plurality of packet bursts in each of the burst cycles and packet bursts of the packet burst stream. Additional packet burst streams associated with additional secondary services may be received and multiplexed in a similar manner.
Abstract:
Media content search results ranked by popularity is described. In embodiment(s), a search request for television media content can be initiated by a viewer, and television media content that is relevant to the search request can be identified. The relevant television media content can then be ranked based on a popularity rating such that the relevant television media content can be displayed in an ordered list that is ordered by popularity rankings.
