A method for monitoring the viewing of video content transmitted via a first wireless link (70) to a mobile terminal (200), in particular to a mobile telecommunication device, comprises the steps of: within the mobile terminal (200) automatically gathering information relating to the viewing of the video content; forwarding the gathered information to an interface (210) of the mobile terminal (200), the interface (210) allowing for sending data via a second wireless link (50); and transmitting the information to a data collection center (60) via the second wireless link (50). Therefore, the information is directly gathered within the mobile terminal (200), i. e. the integrity of the gathered data is not affected by the video display and audio playback means used. The transmission of the gathered information by means of a wireless link (50) allows for an instant (or short-term) analysis of the data at the data collection center. The monitored user (and therefore its viewing habits) are completely unaffected by the inventive monitoring method.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a DVB-H CBMS system by which a user can continue to view a program being in service even when the transport stream or IP platform changes while the user views the program. In the DVB-H CBMS system, the system transmits service mapping information according to transport streams or IP platforms to the terminal, so that the system can provide a service without interruption to the terminal even when a user of the terminal moves out of a current cell or network into a new cell or network while receiving a service that the user selected.
Abstract:
A system and method of simulating interaction with television broadcasts using a mobile phone is disclosed. Messages are received by a mobile phone having software configured to interpret the messages and display the information contained in the message appropriately on the mobile phone display. By utilizing the mobile phone keypad, a user can respond to questions, or other information received by the phone relating to the broadcast. The messages are received in synchronization with a television broadcast such that the user can "interact" with the television broadcast.

A communication system (100) is provided that comprises a Radio Access Network (110) having a Radio Network Controller (RNC) (114) coupled to each of a cellular Node B (112) and a Digital Broadcasting Video-Handhelds (DVB-H) Node B (120). When the communication system delivers low rate Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) user information, the user information is conveyed via the cellular Node B and a low data rate channel. When the communication system delivers high rate MBMS user information, the user information is conveyed via the DVB-H Node B and a high data rate channel. Thus the communication system provides high rate MBMS data services without imposing the system capacity constraints resulting from the employment of HSDPA by a cellular Node B.

An apparatus, system, method and computer program product for providing broadcast services. A terminal controller is configured to use data forming the whole of or part of an electronic service guide, and store information concerning the accessibility of services. That information is then used to generate a list of selectable services available to the user. A user interface presents at least part of the list in a selectable manner. Service accessibility display options are included either as a setting in the terminal or as a user input. Subscribed services are presented to the user differently than non-subscribed services. If a non-subscribed service is selected, payment data is retrieved from the terminal and a suitable subscription is purchased without significant user involvement. The purchase of a subscription results in the terminal receiving subscription data, which is then stored for future use.

The audience ratings of radio and TV programs can be determined in real time by means of devices for determining media behavior (1, 1', , 1 ) installed in the media consumer's home. These devices transmit data to a data collection center (3) via a communication network (2). The data are acquired and transmitted in real time and are automatically evaluated in the data collection center, a conversion system (4) calculating the audience ratings. A distribution center (5) forwards raw data or evaluated data directly from the data collection center (3) to evaluation PCs (7) (7 ) or display devices (8) (8n) via a communication system (6), for example the internet.

The radio system allows the transmission of selected information available on the internet.
