    Abstract: The vehicle can be used for transportation or recreation. The rider can choose to propel the vehicle by either manipulating the steering mechanism back and forth to "walk" the vehicle forward or backward across the ground or propel it with one foot upon the vehicle and one pushing off of the ground or with ski poles. The vehicle offers all of the mobility of a scooter or skateboard but with the added stability and safety of five wheels. Seated or standing riders can use the scooter. A seated rider can sit directly on the frame or an raised seat platform. It can be adapted to employ foot manipulation to produce the back and forth "walking" propulsion. The vehicle is capable of adaptation to provide either foot or hand steering. The vehicle is capable of many incarnations including a steerable skateboard, a steerable snowboard and a steerable sidewalk ski-board.

    Abstract: A transportation vehicle (100) for transporting an individual over ground having a surface that may be irregular. The vehicle has a support platform (112) for supporting the subject and the support platform is coupled to a ground-contacting module at a pivot (118). While the ground-contacting module may be statically stable, balance of the support platform with respect to the ground-contacting module (104) is maintained by motion of the ground-contacting module in response to leaning of the support platform. A motorized drive coupled to the ground-contacting module causes locomotion of the vehicle and the subject therewith over the surface, while a control loop, in which the motorized drive is included, dynamically enhances stability in the fore-aft plane by operation of the motorized drive in connection with the ground-contacting module. In the event of failure of the control loop, the pivot connection of the support platform to the ground-contacting module may be locked, thereby ensuring stability of the static assembly.

    Abstract: The described device demonstrates an apparatus and method for a collapsible wheeled walker or rollator that includes a pair of height adjustable armrests or supports. The armrests may be selectively articulated about hinge or pivot attached to a support tube. The articulating armrest may be locked into a stationary position via a locking pin for use as a typical standing rollator. Alternatively, the armrests are articulable about a hinge when the locking pin is removed, where a damper is interconnected between the hinge and a handle tube attached to the armrests to provide resistance to the movement of the armrests allowing a user to exercise arm muscles while using the wheeled walker. As such the disclosed device operates as both a wheeled walker and an exercise mechanism for the user's arms and upper body.
