Abstract:
A tank jacket fits over the outside of a storage tank. The jacket includes a hole for receiving the regulator assembly. The tank jacket supports a hose support assembly for storing the supply hose and a plurality of pockets for retaining various accessories and tools. A gauge protector fits over the regulator assembly and includes a first housing section defining a first cavity for receiving the regulator and a second housing section defining a second cavity for receiving the pressure gauge. A handle is formed on the gauge protector to facilitate carrying of the tank. The gauge protector and tank jacket protect the tank and regulator assembly and provide a system for transporting the tank and related equipment.
Abstract:
A gas storage system (11) formed of a continuous pipe (10) wound in plural layers, each layer having plural loops. The pipe may be distributed within a container (12), which may serve as a carousel for winding the pipe and as a gas containment device. When containers, each containing a continuous pipe, are stacked upon each other, the weight of upper containers may be born by the walls (16, 18) of lower containers, thus preventing lower layers of pipe from suffering stresses due to crushing by upper layers. A method of transporting gas to a gas distribution facility including obtaining a supply of gas at a gas supply point remote from the gas distribution facility, injecting the gas into a continuous pipe bent to form plural layers, each layer including plural loops of pipe, transporting the continuous pipe along with the gas to the gas distribution facility preferably in a ship (62) and discharging the gas.
Abstract:
Glass-fibre reinforced plastic tank, for example for liquid petroleum gas under high pressure, compressed air for air brakes or for storage of acetylene. The tank is composed of two halves (10, 12), the open ends of which are conically bevelled to form a male end (20) and a female end (22), which are joined to each other by an adhesive. The reinforcement in the outer and inner layers of the halves contains essentially longitudinal glass-fibre strands and the intermediate layer contains essentially transverse glass-fibre strands. In the half with the male end (20), the longitudinal glass-fibre strands in the inner layer (35) are densely located adjacent to each other, while the longitudinal glass-fibre strands in the outer layer lie in separate groups (30) of densely arranged glass-fibre strands with the predetermined spacing between the groups to form channel-shaped spaces (31). In the half with the female end (22), the order is reverse. In order to store acetylene, a pre-fabricated absorbent body of porous material is enclosed in the tank when the tank halves are glued together.
