Abstract:
A zip fastener (1) has a fabric tape (5, 6) having coupling elements (7, 8) on an edge of the tape (5, 6). A coating (16, 18) of a transparent thermoplastics material is provided on at least one surface (20, 22) of the tape (5, 6). A pattern (26) may be printed on the tape surface (20, 22) and covered by the transparent layer (16, 18). Also described is coating layer having an embossed or three dimensional pattern on the coating upper surface.
Abstract:
A method for manufacturing an optical member from a powdery nano composite material, which includes a thermoplastic resin containing inorganic fine particles, is provided. The method includes: preparing an aggregated intermediate body by heating the powdery nano composite material; and forming the optical member having a finished shape by heat-press molding the intermediate body.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
A flexible tubing (10) for fine bubble aeration is provided with an air passageway (20) defined in part by an upper portion (12) and a lower portion (14) . The tubing can be made of a uniform weighted material with more material in the lower portion than in the upper portion. This makes the tubing self-orienting, in that it will tend to orient itself with micro-slits (22) along the upper portion facing upward and the lower portion facing downward when submerged in a body of water. An automated, one-stage production line converts raw tubing material to a finished tubing product without the need for separate processing. A method of coiling the tubing places the micro-slits approximately 90° away from the surface of a spool hub, thereby avoiding a longitudinal arch in the tubing and ultimately preventing roll-over and improper slit orientation after installation in a water body.

Abstract:
A method for producing an alveolar panel element particularly for coverings, packagings, supporting surfaces and the like, comprising the steps of extruding a first layer (3) and a second layer (4) of thermoplastic material, shaping the first and second layers so as to provide, on each layer, a sheet-like element (20) with elements (21) that protrude on at least one face, and coupling the protruding elements of each layer in order to obtain an alveolar panel element.
Abstract:
Procedure for flocking rubber profile, which comprises the steps of providing a flocked tape (6) which has the desired width of flock (10) and whose base (11), intended to make contact with the surface of the profile comprises an olefinic compound chemically compatible with a polymer present in the rubber profile (1); heating of the rubber profile (1) and the flocked tape; and forming a contact bond between the rubber profile (1) and the flocked tape (6).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for forming a tube and connector assembly (10,12:10,14). The tube (10) is formed in a co-extrusion process (16) to provide a multi-ply tube and the multi-ply tube is thereafter delivered to an injection die assembly (18,20) where a connector (12,14) is moulded onto the end of the tube (10). The moulded on connector provides a ready and efficient means of providing a connector for the tube and further encapsulates the tube end so as to preclude separation of the plies of the tube even in a heavy duty usage environment. The connector may comprise a coaxial connector (12) in which the central axis of the connector is coaxial with the central axis of the tube end portion over which it is moulded or may comprise a right angle connector (14) in which the central axis of the connector is at a right angle to the central axis of the tube end portion over which it is moulded.
Abstract:
This invention concerns a method and apparatus for manufacturing a sheet and a two-dimensional matrix of plastic optical fibers. The fibers may be of the step-index or graded-index type. Co-extrusion through a specially designed die (14) is used to produce a sheet composed of a fiber array. The fiber sheet (ribbon) can be used for transmitting optical signals. These arrays may also be stacked and fused at high temperatures to form the two-dimensional matrix required for many applications such as large area image transfer. In addition, a high-speed, continuous manufacturing method is disclosed to produce a massive two-dimensional matrix of fibers. The method of manufacture permits high quality image transfer at low manufacturing cost in a wide array of geometries.
