摘要:
PVC and/or CPVC tubing and/or pipe is adhesively-secured at one end with a pipe fitting telescopably mated with each other with a uniquely effective epoxy adhesive. The resulting pipe joint is fluid-tight. PVC pipe joints meet the requirements of ASTM F1970; CPVC pipe joints meet the requirements of ASTM D2864. Such PVC and CPVC piping systems are chosen to carry cold and hot aqueous streams respectively, under pressure and elevated temperature in continuous service, both, in industrial and domestic piping systems. Such piping systems also carry more corrosive fluids for specified duration, less than 50 years.

An apparatus for adapting the inside diameter of a vise for locking plastic pipes to provide T-unions, crosspieces, Y-unions and the like by fusion welding. The apparatus includes, with reference to at least one jaw (12) of the vise (11), a first reduction body (17, 117) in which the surface for locking the pipe length (15, 115), designated as first surface (18, 118), is contoured so as to follow the shape of the cradle (14) at the at least one inclined side of the jaw (11), so as to form a locking surface which is inclined with respect to the axis of the length (15, 115), and at least one second adapter body (22, 122) in which the surface for locking the pipe length (15, 115), designated as second surface (23, 123), is contoured so as to follow the circular arc-like shape of a region of the cradle (14) of the jaw (12) which is comprised between an inclined side (16) and the opposite end of the cradle (14); the total locking surface, which is the sum of the first surface (18, 118) and of the second surface (22, 122) of the adapter bodies (17, 117, 22, 122), is smaller than the locking surface of the cradle (14).

An air handling system ductwork (14) component comprising a tubular, foam interior layer (16) integrally formed with a thin, non-metal outer layer (18). The combination interior and outer layers (16, 18) are characterized as providing requisite strength for use of the ductwork component within an air handling system without inclusion of a metal-based layer. In one preferred embodiment, the interior layer (16) is a closed cell foam, and the outer layer (18) is plastic, with the ductwork (14) component being formed as part of a rotational molding process. The ductwork (14) component can assume a wide variety of forms, such as a duct (14), pipe, elbow, boot, tee, plenum, reducer, register, wall stack, take-off, etc.

A method of making a pipe joint comprises providing a mould for forming substantially half the joint split longitudinally, moulding half the joint including strengthening webs, and assembling two halves so moulded to form the finished pipe joint. Moulding the joint in two complementary halves (12) enables strengthening webs (22) to be produced within the elbow, which is difficult or impossible with the conventional injection moulding technique. Since the webs can be designed to provide the strength where necessary, the thickness of the remainder of the elbow can be reduced, leading to an overall saving in weight and material. Moreover, by careful choice of the shape and positioning of the strengthening webs, a single mould is sufficient to produce both halves of the joint. By these means, savings of over 50 % on the cost of conventionally produced joints can be made.

The present invention relates to a reinforcing sleeve which is substantially tubular and designed for placing inside a coupling pipe (22) in an assembly with the coupling pipe which forms part of a coupling (20). The sleeve is provided with a slit (5) extending at least in axial direction (7) of the reinforcing sleeve, and wherein the slit (5) is enclosed by slit edges (9) of the reinforcing sleeve. The slit edges define an intermediate space which is variable in that the sleeve takes a flexible and resilient form, wherein the dimensions and the form of the reinforcing sleeve are chosen such that the contour of the reinforcing sleeve can be placed inside a coupling pipe and there connects closely to an inner wall of the coupling pipe after placing. The reinforcing sleeve optionally comprises toothings for fixation to the coupling pipe. The present invention further relates to a method for welding an outer end of a multilayer conduit to the above stated assembly.

A coupling for joining socket ends of multilayer tubing through electrofusion including a central body having opposing male ends. A core at least partially surrounds the central body and an outer layer encloses the core and central body. The outer layer defines a flange protruding radially outwardly from the central body, wherein the core includes a portion that extends radially outwardly through the flange and out of the flange so that the core can be directly heated by an external heating element.

The invention relates to a line, especially a hydraulic or pneumatic pressure line for use in a motor vehicle. Said line comprises a first substantially hollow-cylindrical line section and a second substantially hollow-cylindrical line section. The line sections are friction-welded to each other.

A method and apparatus for forming a tube and connector assembly (10,12:10,14). The tube (10) is formed in a co-extrusion process (16) to provide a multi-ply tube and the multi-ply tube is thereafter delivered to an injection die assembly (18,20) where a connector (12,14) is moulded onto the end of the tube (10). The moulded on connector provides a ready and efficient means of providing a connector for the tube and further encapsulates the tube end so as to preclude separation of the plies of the tube even in a heavy duty usage environment. The connector may comprise a coaxial connector (12) in which the central axis of the connector is coaxial with the central axis of the tube end portion over which it is moulded or may comprise a right angle connector (14) in which the central axis of the connector is at a right angle to the central axis of the tube end portion over which it is moulded.
