Abstract:
A rivetab!e adhesive for use in a joint between dissimilar materials, comprising a Nquid epoxy resin, an expoxidized polysulfide, a f!exibifizer, a solid epoxy CTBN adduet based upon bsspheno! A, a prienoxy resin, an impact modifier inciuding methacryiate- butadiene-styrene, a curing agent; and a blowing agent. The adhesive finds particular suitability for use in riveting aluminum panels to steei structures, such as for forming automotive vehicie roof structures.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention provides a multi-layer polyolefin film including a polyolefin barrier layer and an adhesive layer. The barrier layer includes a first polyolefin having a flexural modulus (1% secant) less than about 410 MPa and a second polyolefin having a melting temperature greater than about 140o C. The first polyolefin is preferably a propylene-ethylene copolymer comprising from about 3 wt% to about 45 wt% of the barrier layer and the second polyolefin is preferably a polypropylene impact copolymer comprising from about 55 wt% to about 97 wt% of the barrier layer. The adhesive layer includes a maleic anhydride grafted polyolefin or a polyesteramide (PEA) based coating. The multi-layer film is bonded to a synthetic fabric, such as nylon or polyester, and useful for airbag applications.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a peelable surface protective film comprising a structure layer and an adhesive layer comprising a blend of at least one ethylene/vinyl acetate copolymer or at least one ethylene/alkyl acrylate copolymer, an anhydride modified ethylene copolymer and tackifier. The film can be used to protect the surface of plates or panels used in construction materials, vehicles, and the like, particularly during transportation, storage and/or assembly. Also disclosed are articles comprising the film and a process for using the film.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method adhering a layer to a substrate that features defining first and second interfaces by having a composition present between the layer and the substrate that forms covalent bonds to the layer and adheres to the substrate employing one or more of covalent bonds, ionic bonds and Van der Waals forces. In this manner, the strength of the adhering force of the layer to the composition is assured to be stronger than the adhering force of the layer to the composition formed from a predetermined adhering mechanism, i.e., an adhering mechanism that does not include covalent bonding. Additionally, the present invention is directed to a composition of adhering together first and second materials. The composition features a multi-functional reactive compound that includes a backbone group and first and second functional groups; a cross-linker, and a catalyst. The first functional group is responsive to a first actinic energy to form cross-linked molecules and to adhere a subset of the cross-linked molecules to the first material. The second functional group is responsive to a second actinic energy, differing from the first actinic energy to adhere to the second material.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novolac vinyl esters useful as thermal resistance conferring components for anaerobic curable compositions, and anaerobic curable compositions having such novolac vinyl esters. The compositions are particularly useful as adhesives and sealants.
