Abstract:
The present invention relates to a personal care composition. More particularly the present invention relates to stabilization of UVA sunscreen dibenzoylmethane derivatives or even more particularly Parsol 1789TM (4-t-butyl-4'-methoxydibenzoylmethane) in personal care compositions. It is an object of the present invention to provide a personal care composition with relatively long photoprotection efficiency. It is another object of the present invention to stabilize Parsol 1789 by use of a natural substance or materials derived from plants. Surprisingly the present inventors have found that theaflavin or black tea extract having high levels of theaflavin, can act as a photostabilizer for dibenzoylmethane derivatives or Parsol-1789TM.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an edible product comprising 10-99 wt.% of an aqueous phase; 0.1-90 wt.% of an oil phase; 0-40 wt.% of solid or semi-solid particles; and active plant cell wall degrading enzyme. Another aspect of the invention relates to the use of the aforementioned edible product for increasing the bioavailability of one or more micronutrients that are comprised in the vegetable and/or fruit components of a salad, said use comprising combining the product and the salad.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an edible tomato-based product comprising: - 5-99.9 % by weight of dry matter oftomato-derived components other than water; - 30-95 wt.% of water; - 0.1-30 wt.% of oil; wherein the oil contains at least 10 wt.% of diacylglycerides. The invention also relates to the use of diacylglycerides for increasing the bioavailability of one or more lipophilic micronutrients that are comprised in an edible tomato-based product, said use comprising incorporating into said edible product 0.03-15 wt.% of diacylglycerides.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of preparing a processed blend from two or more fresh plant materials, including a first fresh plant material containing lipophilic vitamin and a second fresh plant material containing hydrophilic vitamin; said process comprising: A. a first pre-treatment regime comprising: ·providing pieces of the first fresh plant material; ·cooking said pieces; ·comminuting the cooked pieces to produce a lipophilic vitamin containing puree; and said first pre-treatment regime additionally comprising the addition of oil; B. a second pre-treatment regime comprising: ·providing pieces of the second fresh plant material; and ·blanching said pieces to produce a hydrophilic vitamin containing mass; C. combining the lipophilic vitamin containing puree and the hydrophilic vitamin containing mass; wherein the lipophilic vitamin containing puree is homogenised at a high pressure before or after being combined with the hydrophilic vitamin containing mass. The process of the present invention offers the advantage that content as well as oral bioavailability of lipophilic and hydrophilic vitamins contained in the blend of plant materials are maximised.
Abstract:
A method for colouring hair, comprising the step of applying to the hair a composition comprising a dye polymer in which the dye polymer is obtainable by the reaction of a NH2 group directly and covalently bound to an aromatic ring of a dye i) with a reactive group of a polymeric compound ii) in which the reactive group is selected from the group consisting of isocyanate; oxazolone; epoxide; ester, and anhydride.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to photostable sunscreen compositions comprising sunscreens, more particularly to a liquid composition in emulsion or microemulsion format comprising dibenzoylmethane sunscreens. An object of the present invention is to provide photostable compositions comprising dibenzoylmethane sunscreens, wherein the stabilization is brought about by using readily available and inexpensive ingredients. The present inventors have surprisingly found that cosmetic compositions comprising dibenzoylmethane or its derivative can be stabilized in a specific liquid emulsion or microemulsion formulation having specified ingredients in selective amounts.
Abstract:
A packaged savoury food concentrate in the form of a gel, for preparing a bouillon, a soup, a sauce, a gravy or a seasoning comprising: -a gelling system, -a liquid phase comprising a liquid polyol, -from 3%wt to 30%wt of salt, based on the weight of the total food concentrate, wherein the liquid polyol is present in an amount of from 0.1 wt% to 80 wt%, based on the total weight of the food concentrate.
Abstract:
Skin care compositions comprising certain phenoxyalkylamines, which are particularly beneficial for skin lightening and achieving evenness of color, especially for face and underarm skin.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a liquid or soft-solid personal cleansing composition that utilises the detergency properties of new materials which are more efficient, more inexpensive and are an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional soaps or synthetic surfactants. It more particularly relates to a cleansing composition in liquid, gel or cream formats. The present invention provides for a personal cleansing composition comprising (i) 1 to 50% of treated clay particles; and (ii) a cosmetically acceptable base; wherein said treated clay particles are asymmetric 1:1 or 2:1:1 clay particles having alternating tetrahedral and octahedral sheets terminating with a tetrahedral sheet at one external surface plane and an octahedral sheet at another external surface plane, with a fatty acid of carbon chain length 10 to 22 attached to coordinating cation on one of said exterior surface planes.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel peptides and to topical and food compositions comprising them. The novel peptides have applications in skin lightening and immunomodulation when applied topically and to immunomodulation and modulation of body mass when consumed in food compositions.
