Abstract:
Color, pattern, design, and/or the like is applied by means of a jet dye process, or any other secondary or post pattern application process, including but not exclusively, silk screen printing, rotary printing, etc., to a bonded carpet, where the yarn in the carpet is all white (no dye applied) or light colored or where the yarn is pre-dyed with a single or multiple colors or where the yarn is treated chemically. The bonded carpet preferably has a low face weight and flat, short, dense, vertical cut pile.
Abstract:
A floor laying material whose sound absorbing property and sound insulating property are optimized a piece mat and an arranging structure thereof. A floor laying material 10 comprises a carpet layer 11 having joining strips 11a of thermoplastic resin discontinuously arranged on the back surface thereof, and a cushion material layer 12 laminated to the back surface of the carpet layer 11 through the joining strips 11a. The carpet layer 11 has its front-to-back flow resistance value adjusted to be between 100 Nsm-3 and 1000 Nsm-3. Further, the cushion material layer 12 is made of a raw material having an air wrapping property and has its front-to-back flow resistance value adjusted to be between 40 Nsm-3 and 800 Nsm-3.
Abstract:
A secondary backing for surface coverings is disclosed which comprises at least one thermoplastic material optionally having polymeric microspheres dispersed therein. A textile substrate comprising a primary backing with textile fibers extending upwardly from the backing and forming a surface and the above-described secondary backing attached thereto is also described. Methods of making the textile substrate and the secondary backing which can be foam or hardback are also described. Also described is a resilient surface covering, such as vinyl flooring, using the secondary backing of the present invention in one or more layers.
Abstract:
A backing or an intermediate layer for a surface covering is described which comprises a fused recycled material, wherein the material comprises a thermoplastic material, for instance, a vinyl material from a vinyl backed carpet or vinyl backed carpet manufacturing waste or both. Surface coverings containing the backing or intermediate layer of the present invention are also described as well as methods of making the backing or intermediate layer and methods of making the surface coverings containing the backing or intermediate layer of the present invention.

Abstract:
A tufted carpet (10) comprises consecutively a primary backing (12), stitched with loops of yarn (14) to form a tufted structure projecting outwardly from the primary backing (12), a polyolefin locking layer (16), a moisture barrier polyolefin layer (18), and a secondary backing (20) comprising a woven polyolefin.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an improved carpet precoat composition, a carpet composition comprising the inventive precoat composition and methods of making the same. The improved precoat composition comprises a binder and a filler comprising a kaolin clay slurry. The carpet composition comprising the inventive precoat layer exhibits exceptional wet delamination strength.
Abstract:
The invention pertains to a carpet tile which is a laminate of a first sheet having yarns fastened thereto, the first sheet having a first surface and a second surface, the yarns extending from the first surface, a second sheet and an intermediate layer between the second surface of the first sheet and the second sheet, wherein the intermediate layer is resilient to allow local deformation of this layer along the second surface of the first sheet or along the surface of the second sheet adjacent to the intermediate layer, and the weight of the carpet tile is below 4.0 kg/m 2 . The invention also pertains to a method to produce such a carpet tile and to a method to recycle such a carpet tile.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A dimensionally stable floor covering comprises a tufted textile substrate and a reinforcement layer attached to the textile substrate. The reinforcement layer includes an adhesive backing compound and reinforcement fibers surrounded by the adhesive backing. The fibers may form a continuous layer on the back side of the floor covering or may be dispersed within the adhesive backing compound. The adhesive backing compound may be hot water-soluble to facilitate recycling of the floor covering. The floor covering may optionally include additional backing layers (including cushions) and may be used as a broadloom carpet, a carpet tile, or other modular floor covering products. Methods of manufacturing, installing, and recycling the present floor coverings are also provided.
