A core antenna system for use in electronic article surveillance (EAS) and radio frequency identification (RFID) systems. The core antenna system may include a core antenna. The core antenna may include a core, a first resonant winding disposed around at least a portion of the core, the first resonant winding having a first number of winding turns Nl, and a second non-resonant winding disposed around at least a portion of the core, the second non-resonant winding having a second number of winding turns N2, the second number of turns greater than or equal to the first number of turns. The core antenna may be mounted on a shield plate and tuned to an operating frequency on the shield plate such that when the shielded core antenna is further mounted on a mounting surface, e.g., of a checkstand, no significant de-tuning of the antenna takes lace.

An integrated circuit package may include a substrate and an integrated circuit. The substrate may include at least one region, and a first magnetic material associated with the at least one region. The integrated circuit may have a second magnetic material associated therewith. The second magnetic material may be attracted to the first magnetic material to coupled the integrated circuit to the at least one region of the substrate. The IC package may be utilized in an RFID tag of an RFID system. An associated method for assembling an integrated circuit to a substrate is also provided.

The apparatus may include a first input to receive a first identification code associated with an item, a second input to receive a second identification code associated with the item, and an output to provide a control signal to control the operation of a security label deactivation and detection device based on the first and second identification codes. A radio frequency identification (RFID) device programming system and method may be used to provide pre-programmed RFID devices, for example, as a roll of RFID devices that may be later applied to articles or items. The programming system may include a plurality of RFID probes configured to apply programming signals to the RFID devices and a RFID programmer connected to the probes and configured to generate the programming signals. The programming system may also include a web positioning mechanism configured to position a web including the RFID devices such that the group of RFID devices is positioned in within a programming range of the probes. A controller may be configured to control the web positioning mechanism such that sequential groups of the RFID devices are programmed.

A pressure equalizing housing may be used to house equipement (e.g., one or more mechanical and/or electronic devices). The pressure equalizing housing may include a pressure equalization device to provide pressure equalization between an internal pressure inside of the housing and an ambient pressure outside of the housing. The pressure equalization prevents relatively humid air outside of the housing from passing into the housing and thus prevents or substantially minimizes condensation inside of the housing.

System and method for integrating information concerning point of sale (POS) transactions and electronic article surveillance deactivations are disclosed. The method includes the steps of providing a POS station configured to collect and transmit first data pertaining to purchased merchandise having at least one EAS tag, the POS station further configured to transmit a deactivation signal, receiving the deactivation signal at the EAS deactivator, the EAS deactivator configured to deactivate at least one EAS tag, collect second data pertaining to deactivation of at least one EAS tag, and transmit the first and second data, transmitting the first and second data to an alarm management unit, the alarm management unit adapted for collecting and relaying the first and second data, and processing the first and second data at a data processing unit, the data processing unit configured to analyze the first and second data and generate third data pertaining to the first and second data.
