A process and apparatus for collecting data for nondestructive evaluation of the quality of a crimped wire connector are provided. The process involves providing a crimping tool having an anvil and opposing jaw for crimping a terminal onto a stranded wire, moving the jaw relative to the anvil to close the distance between the jaw and the anvil and thereby compress the terminal against the wire, while transmitting ultrasonic waves that are propagated through the terminal-wire combination and received at a receiving ultrasonic transducer as the jaw is moved relative to the anvil, and detecting and recording the position of the jaw relative to the anvil as a function of time and detecting and recording the amplitude of the ultrasonic wave that is received at the receiving ultrasonic transducer as a function of time as the jaw is moved relative to the anvil.

A crimping apparatus includes a ram having crimp tooling for crimping a terminal to a wire during a crimp stroke and a force sensor detecting a crimp force during the crimp stroke. The crimping apparatus also includes a controller that monitors the crimp quality of a crimp based on a frequency profile of the crimp. Also provided is a method of monitoring crimp quality comprising measuring crimp forces during a crimp stroke (102); creating a force profile (104); converting the crimp forces to a frequency profile using a frequency transform algorithm (106); and analyzing the frequency profile to determine a crimp quality (108).

A profile measuring apparatus is provided to be capable of carrying out an optimal measurement for various objects, even provided with a gate -shaped frame structure, with an optical measuring probe. The profile measuring apparatus includes a projection unit which projects a pattern on the object from a projection direction; a measurement unit which takes an image of the pattern from a direction different from the projection direction to measure a position on a surface of the object based on an image data obtained with the taken image; an object - rotation unit which rotates the object in two directions; and a pattern - rotation unit which rotates the pattern.

Methods and apparatus for calibrating a plurality of gas flows in a substrate processing system are provided herein. In some embodiments, a substrate processing system may include a cluster tool comprising a first process chamber and a second process chamber coupled to a central vacuum transfer chamber; a first flow controller to provide a process gas to the first process chamber; a second flow controller to provide the process gas to the second process chamber; a mass flow verifier to verify a flow rate from each of the first and second flow controllers; a first conduit to selectively couple the first flow controller to the mass flow verifier; and a second conduit to selectively couple the second flow controller to the mass flow verifier.

A vehicle body framing apparatus and method for use in assembling vehicle body structures of varying vehicle types in a framing station positioned along an assembly line. The apparatus includes an overhead bridge frame that is connected to two pairs of vertical pillars positioned at a build station. One pair of the pillars is moveable to accommodate different lengths of vehicle bodies. The spaced pillars and overhead bridge provide substantially unobstructed access openings to the body sides of the vehicle to increase efficiency and quality of build. The device and method may include a bridge frame storage and transport system for remotely storing the different bridge frames not in use and then transporting a selected bridge frame to the build station for use.

Dans un procédé de contrôle de la mise sous tension d'une tige de serrage (4), du type vis ou goujon, par extension axiale de la tige et positionnement d'au moins un organe de retenue (6) avant de relâcher la tige de sorte que cette dernière est bloquée aux deux extrémités de la longueur utile de serrage avec un effort résiduel de tension de serrage dans, on effectue des mesures représentatives de l'allongement de la tige à l'état étirée sous un effort d'extension mesuré et de la tige après relâchement par rapport à la tige avant extension en comparant des valeurs fournies par au moins un capteur lors de l'extension et après relâchement avec une valeur de référence fournie par ce capteur avant l'extension, et on calcule, à partir de ces données, un effort résiduel de serrage dans la longueur utile de serrage de la tige relâchée après extension.
