Abstract:
A process is provided for the chlorination of ethane using chlorine as the chlorinating agent to produce primarily vinyl chloride (VCM), ethylene, hydrogen chloride (HCl).
Abstract:
A multifunctional naphthol-based epoxy resin composition which is a reaction product of a) a naphthol which is a reaction product of i) from 1 to 99 weight percent 1-naphthol and ii) from 1 to 99 weight percent 2-naphthol; and b) an epihalohydrin, is disclosed. Also disclosed is a curable composition comprising: a) an epoxy component comprising the multifunctional naphthol-based epoxy resin composition; and b) a hardener component comprising i) a phenolic resin component selected from the group consisting of phenol novolac resins, triphenolalkane phenolic resins, aralkyl phenolic resins, biphenyl phenolic resin, biphenyl aralkyl phenolic resins, substituted naphthalene phenolic resins unsubstituted naphthalene phenolic resins, and combinations thereof; and ii) a phosphorus-containing composition which is the reaction product of an etherified resole with 9,10-dihydro-9-oxa-10-phosphaphenanthrene-10-oxide (DOPO). The curable composition can be used to prepare prepregs, electrical laminates, printed circuit boards, and printed wiring boards.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to methods of diagnosing, monitoring, and assessing treatment effects for neurological and neurodegenerative diseases and disorders, such as Alzheimer's Disease, early in the course of clinical disease or prior to the onset of brain damage and clinical symptoms. Methods of measuring the in vivo metabolism of biomolecules produced in the CNS in a subject are provided.
Abstract:
The current invention is directed toward a method for inhibiting methanogenesis and/or the growth of methanogens. The method comprises contacting a methanogenic archaea medium with a methane inhibiting amount and/or a growth inhibiting amount of a compound that specifically inhibits methane formation and inhibits the growth of methanogens. A method to increase feed efficiency in a ruminant is also provided via administering to the animal an effective rumen modifying amount of a compound that specifically inhibits methanogenesis.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to compounds, and prodrugs thereof, composition and methods useful for preventing and treating thrombotic conditions in mammals. The compounds of the present invention, and prodrugs thereof, selectively inhibit certain proteases of the coagulation cascade.
Abstract:
Described are systems and methods for administration of nitric oxide (NO) with use of left ventricular assists devices (LVADs), as well as systems and methods for monitoring the NO delivery devices and/or the LVAD.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compounds that have motifs that target the compounds to cells that express integrins. In particular, the compounds have peptides with one or more RD motifs conjugated to an agent selected from an imaging agent and a targeting agent. The compounds may be used to detect, monitor and treat a variety of disorders mediated by integrins.
Abstract:
The present invention provides methods for the reduction of endotoxins in a plasmid preparation using a carbohydrate non-ionic detergent with silica chromatography.
Abstract:
The present invention provides compositions and methods to treat, prevent or inhibit a neoplasia or a neoplasia-related disorder in a mammal using a combination of a COX-2 inhibitor and a topoisomerase II inhibitor.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed toward a composition comprising a compound isolated from Dysidea species sponges that is capable of inhibiting serine proteases of the coagulation cascade. In particular, this composition inhibits the TF/VIIa complex of the coagulation cascade. The invention is also directed toward methods employing this composition as a part of anticoagulant therapy.
