    Abstract: A combined engine gas recirculation (EGR) and selective catalytic reduction (SCR) apparatus has an EGR heat exchanger 9 for cooling exhaust gasses by heating exchange with a cooling fluid prior to return to the engine (1) for reducing NOx formation, and an SCR catalyst (7) for removing NOx from the exhaust gases prior to discharge of the exhaust gasses to atmosphere. A conduit (8) connects the outlet exhaust of the combustion chambers of the engine (1) to the hot exhaust gas inlet of the EGR heat exchanger (9) and a return conduit (4) connects the cooled exhaust gas outlet of the EGR heat exchanger (9) to the inlet of the combustion chambers of the engine (1). A hydrolysis reactor (12) for generating an ammonia containing gas for use in the SCR catalyst (7) is arranged within the EGR heat exchanger (9) for heat exchange with the exhaust gasses from the combustion chambers of the engine (1) and a dosing valve controls the addition of ammonia-containing gas to the exhaust gasses upstream of the SCR catalyst (7).

    Abstract: Apparatus for reducing NOx in the exhaust gasses of a vehicle has a housing (102) connectable inline in the exhaust system and provided with a reaction vessel within a vertical section (108). The reaction vessel has an inlet (110) for the supply of aqueous urea and an outlet (112) for removal of gaseous hydrolysis product. The outlet (112) is connected to a reservoir (200) which provides the NOx containing exhaust gas with the required amount of hydrolysis gas via a conduit (114) to pass therewith through an SCR catalyst to reduce the NOx content. The reservoir (200) includes a temperature sensor (210) to monitor the temperature within the reservoir (200) and a heating element (208) operable to heat the reservoir (200) in response to the temperature sensed by the temperature sensor being below a predetermined temperature.

    Abstract: An apparatus for reducing NOx comprising an exhaust conduit (101) of an IC engine (not shown) in which is placed a urea hydrolysis reactor (102) supplied with aqueous urea from urea storage tank (103) . Flow of the hot exhaust gas through the exhaust conduit (101) heats the reactor (102) and causes the temperature of the urea therein to rise, promoting its hydrolysis and producing gaseous hydrolysis products. A pressure control valve (106) controls the release of the gaseous hydrolysis products from the reactor to a condenser (107) . The condenser (107) is provided with a heat exchanger (108) which has an inlet (109) and an outlet (110) for connection to a coolant supply. When the gaseous hydrolysis gas enters the condenser (107) it is cooled by heat exchange with the engine cooling fluid and the ammonia and steam condense to form a pool of liquid in the bottom of the condenser (107) . A dosing valve (112) is provided in the bottom of the condenser (107) to dose the liquid condensate into the exhaust conduit (101) to pass with the exhaust gas through an SCR catalyst on the surface of which the ammonia reacts with the Nox.

    Abstract: A valve (100) comprising a magnetic circuit comprising a first member (101) and a pivotably mounted armature (102) the armature being movable between a position in which the valve seal (104) engages the valve seat (105) of valve port (103) to block the valve port (103), and a position away from the first member (101).     Abstract: A heating system (1) having a plurality of zones (2, 3, 4, 5), connected in a fluid circuit including a boiler (6) and a pump (7) has separate flow control devices (8, 9, 10, 11) for each zone (2, 3, 4, 5). Each device (8, 9, 10, 11) operable via a control unit (39) to vary the flow in the associated zone (2, 3, 4, 5) independently of the other zones to achieve a desired temperature in each zone (2, 3, 4, 5).
