Abstract:
An air filtration system comprising a plurality of sections configured to receive an incoming airstream is disclosed. In some embodiments, each section of the plurality of sections includes a first airstream receiving side (ASRS) and a second air stream exhaust side (ASES), and a plurality of cells each comprising a cyclonic cavity having a tangential inlet arranged to receive a portion of the airstream via the ASRS, and an axial outlet arranged to exhaust the portion of the airstream to the ASES. Each section is further configured with a cover that can be opened and closed, such that the closing of one or more respective covers of respective sections forces the airstream to flow through remaining sections having open covers as well as their respective cells, at a velocity greater than when such one or more respective covers are open.
Abstract:
An air filter comprising a housing, a plurality of cyclonic-element arrays and a plurality of individual airflow paths is disclosed herein. The housing includes a first side configured to be arranged or otherwise exposed to an upstream side of a first airflow, and a second side configured to be arranged or otherwise exposed to a downstream side of the first airflow. In some embodiments, the plurality of cyclonic-element arrays may be organized in a parallel or approximately parallel arrangement within and/or supported by the housing. Further, the plurality of individual airflow paths may correspond to the plurality individual of cyclone elements in each array life.
Abstract:
In some embodiments, a multistage scrubber that includes a plurality of stages, each stage comprising one or more scrubbing modules having adsorbents configured to adsorb and remove molecules from a flowing mixture of gas traversing the multistage scrubber is disclosed. The sorbents may be used in repeatable adsorption-regeneration swing cycles including concentration swing adsorption (CSA) cycle, temperature swing adsorption (TSA) cycle and pressure swing adsorption (PSA) cycle.
Abstract:
Some embodiments of the disclosure are directed to an air/fluid filter device comprising a sheet of material initially configured in one or more planar sections, a plurality of organized air/fluid outlets arranged on the sheet and configured to allow the air/fluid to flow through the sheet, and a plurality of cyclonic compartments coupled to the sheet, each compartment comprising a cyclonic structure comprising at least one of a cone or a cylinder, including a tangential inlet, and a cyclonic outlet at the end of the cyclonic structure that is coupled to the sheet. In some embodiments, each tangential opening is in air/fluid communication with a respective incoming air/fluid side of the sheet, and each cyclonic outlet is coupled to a respective outlet of the sheet.
Abstract:
A sorbent for C0 2 reduction from indoor air from an enclosed space. In some embodiments, the sorbent comprises a solid support and an amine-based compound being supported by the support. The sorbent captures at least a portion of the C02 within the indoor air. The sorbent may be regenerated by streaming outdoor air through the sorbent to release at least a portion of the captured C0 2 . The sorbent is structured to allow indoor air to flow therein with relatively low flow resistance and relatively rapid reaction kinetics. Regeneration may be performed at relatively low outdoor air temperatures, thereby minimizing the thermal energy required for regenerating the sorbent.
Abstract:
Air treatment modules, systems and methods for removing contaminants from indoor air are provided. Device embodiments may include one or more air inlets, one or more air outlets and a plurality of inserts which each include at least one adsorbent material. The inserts may be arranged separate from each other to form a plurality of substantially parallel air flow paths between the one or more air inlets and one or more air outlets. The adsorbent material may be arranged for regeneration within the air treatment module using thermal swing desorption and/or pressure swing desorption. Related systems, methods and articles of manufacture are also described.
Abstract:
A light-emitting device (100) that includes a multi-layer stack of materials (122). The multi-layer stack of materials (122) includes a light-generating region (130) and a first layer (132) supported by the light-generating region (130). The surface of the first layer (132) is configured so that light generated by the light-generating region (130) can emerge from the light-emitting device (100) via the surface of the first layer (132). The surface of the first layer (132) has a dielectric function that varies spatially according to a desired pattern (150).

Abstract:
Systems and methods for circulating air in an enclosed environment are disclosed. An inlet can be provided to receive an outside air from outside of the enclosed environment and an air handling unit coupled to the inlet to receive the outside air through the inlet and configured to receive a circulated air from the enclosed environment. The air handling unit can be configured to affect a temperature of at least one of the received outside air and the received circulated air. Based on the received outside air and the received circulated air, the air handling unit can be further configured to generate air for supplying to the enclosed environment. The current subject matter system can also include an air circulation system configured to circulate the generated air from the air handling unit to the enclosed environment and back to the air handling unit and a scrubbing system coupled to at least one of the air handling unit and the air circulation system and configured to reduce presence of at least one substance in the air supplied to the enclosed environment.
