The sorbent includes an aluminum oxide support and an alkali metal salt impregnated on the support, and a silicon modification of the sorbent to reduce water uptake by the sorbent and make it more hydrophobic. The silicon modification can be an organosilyl moiety added after the initial sorbent is complete, or a silica source added to the aluminum oxide structure, typically via impregnation. The sorbents demonstrate better H 2 O/CO 2 ratios. Compositions and methods of making are disclosed.

The adsorber vessel is configured for radial flow between a center column and a perimeter manifold. Space between the center column and the perimeter manifold contains adsorption media. End caps close off ends of the vessel. An inlet and an outlet are configured within one of the end caps to feed starting gas into the center column or perimeter manifold, and to draw off product gas from the perimeter manifold or center column. An end cap can be removed to provide access for media loading between the center column and the perimeter manifold. Media is preferably provided within cartridges which can slide into this media space. Cartridges can be concentric with one cartridge inboard of the other, or can be stacked vertically. A spring plate can be provided on an open end to hold the media in position, while sealing the open end of the adsorber vessel.

The present invention relates to a method for running natural gas powered combustion systems, such as an internal combustion engine, a furnace, a fired heater, a power plant, an incinerator, and the like. In one embodiment of the present method, heavier hydrocarbons are separated from a natural gas feedstream in a PSA unit to provide the light hydrocarbon gas stream which is combined with an ethane plus tail gas stream from a liquefaction unit to fuel the combustion system. This method eliminates flaring any gas and minimizes the size requirements for the PSA unit.

A method for controlling two contaminants in a gas stream, comprising a system with two adsorption vessels, and analyzers for determining the concentration of the two contaminants is provided. The method includes purifying a gas stream with a first vessel placed in an adsorption mode and placing a second vessel in a standby mode. Then opening a second purge valve on the second vessel if the concentration of either contaminant is equal to or greater than predetermined threshold levels, thereby allowing a first portion of the purified gas exiting the first vessel to flow through the second vessel and exiting through the second purge valve. Then closing the second purge valve after a predetermined period of time when the concentration of both contaminants are less than or equal to a predetermined threshold level. Then switching the vessels and repeating the process.

The present disclosure relates to a process for capturing carbon-dioxide from a gas stream. In order to capture the carbon-dioxide, a support is provided and potassium carbonate (K 2 CO 3 ) is impregnated thereon to form an adsorbent comprising potassium carbonate (K 2 CO 3 ) impregnated support. The adsorbent is activated to form an activated adsorbent. The gas stream is passed through the adsorber to enable adsorption of the carbon-dioxide on the activated adsorbent to form a carbon-dioxide laden adsorbent. The carbon-dioxide laden adsorbent is transferred to a desorber for at least partially desorbing the carbon-dioxide from the carbon-dioxide laden adsorbent by passing a carbon-dioxide deficient stream through the desorber. The partially regenerated adsorbent is returned to the adsorber for adsorbing the carbon-dioxide from the carbon-dioxide. The process of the present disclosure reduces the overall energy demand by partially regenerating the adsorbent.
