Upon receiving a touch input, a cursor preview window is generated in response, which includes a representation of a section of the graphical user interface proximal to the section obstructed by the touch input. Additionally, the cursor preview window includes a preview cursor that represents the location or coordinates that are registered as inputs to a data processing system connected to the touch screen display.

    摘要: A gyroscope having photonic crystals for sensing rotation uses the Sagnac effect to determine angular motion. The gyroscope comprises a photonic crystal capable of guiding counter-propagating light beams in a closed path. A light source, coupling, and detection apparatus permits detection of phase changes between the counter-propagating beams, thereby permitting measurement of angular rotation. The photonic crystal comprises a periodic structure of pillars and voids which creates a photonic bandgap waveguide within which light waves in the proper wavelength range propagate with low loss.

    摘要: A passive magnetic damper suitable for use as a vibration isolator coupled between two masses, one of which is subject to vibration. The damper includes at least two pairs (10, 12) of rare earth permanent magnets configured to provide a narrow, generally planar gap (14), and backing plates (26, 28) positioned to complete a magnetic circuit passing through the magnets and the gap. A flat conductor plate (16) is positioned to be freely movable in the gap. Any time-varying force on the conductor plate results in the generation of eddy currents in the plate, and these in turn generate a mechanical force on the plate, which resists the time-varying force and produces a damping effect. With careful selection of materials for the magnets, the backing plates and the conductive plate, the damper is effective over a wide temperature range that includes cryogenic temperatures, and is operable over a wide range of damping levels.

    摘要: A method and system for providing fast interrogation of a signal received from a fiber optic sensor array using a low drive voltage, by modulating the array signal with a phase generated carrier optical signal having a modulation frequency which is an odd harmonic of the usual phase generated carrier (PGC) frequency, sending it to an interferometric system, and demodulating the array signal using a demodulation algorithm that is independent of the phase offset. A detector using direct detection method can be used to determine the signal's phase information. The odd harmonic modulation method allows the selection of a desirable odd harmonic PGC frequency with low drive voltage while providing similar performance of the usual PGC frequency that requires a higher drive voltage.
