A system for monitoring a plurality of cells in at least one battery, the system comprising: means for obtaining a first measurement of a parameter at a first time t1 for each of a plurality of cells in a battery; means for ranking the plurality of cells in dependence upon the first measurement of the parameter to obtain a first ranking value for each of the cells; and means for causing storage of the first ranking values. A system for monitoring cells in a battery by ranking all of the plurality of cells on the basis of a measured parameter of the cells.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to a component joining method comprising; interposing an intermediate member between at least one first component and a second component, joining the intermediate member, the at least one first component and the second component to one another by electrical welding through the intermediate member, wherein the electrical welding is arranged to bring the at least one first component and the second component in mechanical and electrical communication with one another at least in part through the intermediate member. A component joining structure so formed finds particular application in attaching battery cell tabs to battery busbars.

The present invention relates to a bimetallic busbar (1) for interconnecting the positive (10) and negative (11) terminals of cells (9) in a battery assembly (8) comprising. In an embodiment, the busbar comprises a conducting base member, configured in the form of an intermediate portion (2), at least two spaced apart fingers, a first finger (3) and a second finger (4), supported in an upright manner on said base member (3). The first finger (3) has an abutting surface (5) for establishing face contact with a contacting surface of the positive terminal (10) of one of the cells (9) and the second finger (4) has an abutting surface (5') for establishing face contact with a contacting surface of the negative terminal (11) of another cell of the battery module. The abutting surface of each of the fingers is aligned in-line with the plane of its corresponding cell terminal, and the metallic property of each of the abutting surfaces is essentially the same as its corresponding cell terminal's contacting surface.

The invention deals with a crankshaft for IC engines comprising a plurality of main bearing journals (5) and crank pin journals (3), both of which are composed of hollow sections. The crankshaft further comprises a plurality of flanges (1), each with a blind counter bore for accommodating said main bearing journal (5), with a counter bore for accommodating said crank pin journal (3), with one through hole (8) drilled from the counter bore for the crank pin journal (3) and with one through hole (4) connecting said main bearing journal (5) and said crank pin journal (3). At least one hole (6, 7) is provided on each of said main bearing journals (5) and said crank pin journals (3) for providing oil for lubrication. At least one non return valve arrangement is provided on the crankshaft for restraining oil drain from the crankshaft when not in operation. At least one lid (2) is provided on through hole (8) to ensure continuous supply of oil for lubrication.
