Aspects of the present invention relate to systems and methods for customizing microwave energy distribution within a chamber to accommodate various load characteristics. Aspects of the present invention relate to customized configurations of ports, deflectors, waveguides, conducting rods, and slots to shape and distribute energy via the microwave energy distribution within the chamber.

A labor-saving shoe making process provides multilayered, heat embossed, shoe components including a one-piece upper. The components comprise a resilient foam layer and other layers for flexibility, strength and durability. Embossing of the shoe components serves to reduce the thickness of the material, provide sealing of the material, provide form and shape to the shoe, and allow strain control management. The connecting of shoe components is accomplished in part through the use of thermoplastic rivets which are heated and melted by the application of a high frequency field.

Footwear components are made from lightweight textile structures (e.g., including circular knitted structures made from natural or synthetic fibers, such as socks or sock-type structures). The textile structures are selectively supported at various areas to provide desired local characteristics. Additional aspects relate to methods of making such components, precursors to such components, and articles of footwear containing such components.

본 발명은 EVA폼으로 된 중창(midsole)과 고무로 된 밑창(outsole)을 파이론 금형에 투입하고, 그 사이에 접착용 필름을 삽입한 다음, 고온ㆍ가압으로 동시에 성형함으로써 밑창과 중창을 제조할 때 반드시 요구되는 세척 공정과 프라이머 도포 공정 및 접착 공정을 수행할 필요가 없으며, 또한 세척 및 접착 공정을 위한 별도의 설비가 필요 없고, 불필요한 작업인력을 절감할 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 친환경적이고 작업환경을 개선할 수 있는 접착용 필름의 조성물을 제시한다.

Elastomeric components, such as a shoe outsole, are treated with a plasma application to clean and activate the elastomeric component. The application of plasma is controlled to achieve a sufficient surface composition change to enhance adhesion characteristics while not adversely physically deforming the elastomeric component. The plasma treatment is applied to increase carbonyl functional group concentrations within an altered region of the elastomeric component to within at least a range of 2% - 15% of carbon atomic percentage composition. The cleaning and activation is controlled, in part, by ensuring a defined height offset range is maintained between the elastomeric component and the plasma source by a generated tool path. The elastomeric component may then be adhered, with an adhesive, to another component.

A method of making an article of footwear may include providing a last shaped to resemble a human foot. The method may also include forming at least one footwear component at least in part from a susceptor material that is thermally reactive to an electromagnetic field. The method may further include covering at least a portion of the last with two or more footwear components, wherein the two or more footwear components includes the at least one footwear component formed at least in part from a susceptor material. In addition, the method may include applying an electromagnetic field to the susceptor material, causing induction heating of the susceptor material and joining the two or more footwear components by melding the two or more components with the induction heating.

Systems, methods and apparatus are disclosed for bonding a plurality of substrates via a solventless, curable adhesive. At least one of the substrates has a deformation temperature below the activation temperature of the adhesive. A workpiece is assembled from a plurality of substrates with the curable adhesive disposed therebetween. Pressure is applied to the workpiece and the workpiece is irradiated with variable frequency microwave energy. The workpiece is swept with at least one window of microwave frequencies selected to heat the adhesive without heating the substrates above their respective deformation temperatures.

Process for waterproofing a semimanufactured product (5) of footwear, gloves, clothing items and accessories, characterized in that it comprises the following operating steps: - arranging the semimanufactured product (5) between one or more airtight surfaces (1, 1a, 1b; 13; 16; 20) and a waterproofing sheath (6) shaped for entirely or partially cover the surfaces to be waterproofed of the semimanufactured product (5); - generating a depression between the waterproofing sheath (6) and said airtight surfaces (1, 1a, 1b; 13; 16; 20), so that the waterproofing sheath (6) adheres to the semimanufactured product (5) by means of glue (21) arranged between the surfaces to be waterproofed of the semimanufactured product (5) and the waterproofing sheath (6). The present invention also relates to a device that carries out said process, as well 15 as the products obtained with this process or device.
