Abstract:
Sensor arrangement for sensing activity in a nerve or muscle, the sensor arrangement being arranged to be secured to an insertion member for insertion into a body cavity, the sensor arrangement (2) comprising a support for supporting one or more sensing elements, the support comprising a first zone (10a) and a second zone (10b) spaced apart longitudinally from the first zone, where each of the first and second zones are arranged to be secured to the insertion member to define a fixed spacing therebetween, wherein a plurality of strips (16) comprising one or more sensing elements bridge at least part of the spacing between the first and second zones, the strips being moveable laterally relative to the longitudinal length of the support.
Abstract:
Electrical sensing/stimulation apparatuses for positioning at least one electrode within body tissue are provided. An electrical sensing/stimulation apparatus may comprise an elongate lead body having at least one internal lumen, at least one sensing/stimulation electrode, a deployable/retractable displacement member that moves or biases at least one electrode towards a prescribed direction by the user, a tissue attachment mechanism for affixing the distal segment of the device to body tissue, and an atraumatic distal lead body termination. In a retracted configuration, the attachment mechanism is positioned substantially within the distal segment of the lead body, and in the deployed configuration, the attachment mechanism extends from the axis of the lead body to engage body tissue.
Abstract:
An implantable medical device (10), such as a sensor for monitoring a selected internally detectable physiological parameter of a patient, is attached to a fixation member (30) that is deployable within the patient to position and orient the sensor to enable it to perform its function. The fixation member is be configured to lie in a single plane when deployed and coprises one or more loops (42). The attachment of the housing and fixation member includes providing the fixation member with a linear attachment strut (44) that is non-circular in cross section and providing the housing with external members (46-48) that define an elongate channel, non-circular in cross section and receptive to the attachment strut. The attachment strut can be inserted transversely into the channel and the external member can be crimped over the strut to secure the housing and fixation member together.
Abstract:
A method for eliminating noise from a data sample comprising passive noise cancellation, active noise cancellation, and a software based filtering process; said passive noise cancellation comprises collecting data from a piezo sensor that is sound isolated by a noise attenuating material surrounding said piezo sensor and forming a connection to the surface to be sampled; isolating said piezo sensor on a device comprising a membrane; said active noise cancellation comprises utilizing a second sensor adjacent to said piezo sensor to detect ambient sounds and subtracting said ambient sounds detected from said second sensor from said data; performing a wavelet analysis on said data; and performing a method selected from the group consisting Burg's method, Welch's method, and combinations thereof.
Abstract:
A medical tracking system comprises a fiducial apparatus that includes a sensor docking feature configured to mate with a mating portion of a sensor device. The sensor docking feature retains the mating portion in a known configuration. The fiducial apparatus also includes at least one imageable fiducial marker and a surface configured for attachment to an anatomy of a patient.

This document provides methods and materials involved in obtaining images using pCLE. For example, devices (e.g., pCLE devices) and systems configured to allow a user (e.g., a clinician) to stabilize imaging probes in a manner that minimizes excessive movement during imaging are provided.
Abstract:
A gas measurement device for measuring at least one gas in the stomach of a mammal, the device comprises a housing for being located in the mammal's stomach and providing at least one gas sensor for detecting the gas. The housing is impermeable to liquid within the stomach. The device may also comprise a controller disposed within the housing and which is electrically coupled to the at least one gas sensor. The controller is arranged to periodically process an output from the gas sensor(s) to provide data indicative of the amount of the gas within the stomach. The controller can include a wireless transmitter for transmitting the data to a remotely located receiving device disposed exterior to the mammal.
