Abstract:
The present invention relates to a simple, cost-effective, stretchable, superabsorbent material-containing absorbent structure that provides the superabsorbent material particles therein with improved liquid holding capacity. The stretchable absorbent structure can be used in absorbent articles such as diapers, sanitary napkins, panty liners, and incontinence pads. The stretchable absorbent structure comprises a stretchable liquid impervious barrier layer (40) and an absorbent nonwoven component (43) that is bonded to the barrier layer when the barrier layer is stretched at least partially toward its stretched condition, and superabsorbent, hydrogel-forming material (41) deposited on or distributed within the nonwoven component.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a disposable, absorbent pants-type diaper which includes a front-part (1), a back-part (2), a crotch-part (3) between the front and back parts (1, 2), at least two side-closure parts (12, 13) which mutually join parts of the side-edges (4, 5) of respective front and back parts, so that the pants will present a waist opening (9) and two leg openings (10, 11), wherein the diaper pants further include an elongated absorbent pad (14) having a front and a rear end-part (17, 18) and an intermediate centre-part (19), an inner casing layer (15) placed on that side of the absorbent pad (14) which is intended to face the wearer in use, and an outer casing layer (16) which is placed on the other side of the absorbent pad. The invention is characterized in that at least one of the respective front and back parts (1, 2) has at least one elastically stretchable regions (29, 30); in that the crotch-part (3) is essentially non-stretchable in relation to the stretchable region (29, 30); in that at least one of respective end-parts (17, 18) of the absorbent pad (14) is disposed within one of the elastically stretchable regions (29, 30), while the centre-part (19) of the absorbent pad is disposed within the relatively non-stretchable crotch-part (3) of the pants, whereby those forces that are exerted by the elastically stretchable region (29, 30) on the end-part or end-parts (17, 18) of the absorbent pad will function to hold the absorbent pad (14) in sealing abutment with the wearer when the diaper is worn.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for imparting varying degrees of elasticity in mutually different parts of a thin, resilient material, preferably casing material for disposable, absorbent articles, such as diapers and incontinence guards. According to the invention, material is removed from those areas of the resilient material which are to be given a lesser degree of elasticity than remaining areas of the article, while leaving coherent material-parts in the areas from which material has been removed. The invention also relates to material manufactured by means of the method, and to a disposable, absorbent article, such as a diaper or an incontinence guard, which includes a casing layer manufactured from inventive resilient material.
Abstract:
The invention refers to a disposable absorbent article such as a diaper, a pant or a sanitary napkin. The disposable absorbent article further comprises a structure which is able to elongate and simultaneously convert from an initial flat configuration into an erected configuration and which comprises multiple levels.
Abstract:
An adhesive plaster for providing relief from discomfort for suffers from rheumatism, arthritis and similar complaints comprises a backing (1) of adhesive coated non-woven or woven stretch fabric material and a zone of metallic copper (2) positioned to be held against the skin of a wearer by the adhesive backing. The copper is preferably in the form of a copper foil.
Abstract:
An absorbent article such as a sanitary napkin, having flaps (24) and a recessed area (68) wherein the flaps may be tucked. The recessed area is formed by joining the inward longitudinal edge of the retaining members (78) to the absorbent assembly at a point inboard of the longitudinal edge of the main body portion.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to absorbent articles such as sanitary napkins, panty liners, and incontinence pads. More particularly, the present invention relates to absorbent articles, such as sanitary napkins, that have longitudinal side edge components (52) that naturally wrap the sides (22) of a wearer's panties which provide an alternative to conventional side flaps. The side edge components are extensible, and may be attached inboard of the longitudinal edges of the main body of the article, or be decoupled from the main body, or comprise part of the impervious backsheet of the main body.
Abstract:
A simplified process is disclosed for making form fitting undergarments that include structures for absorbing (13) and containing body exudates. The garments are formed by selectively cutting (14, 15) and seaming (17, 18) sheets (8) having parallel elastic strands into trapezoidal or rectangular geometries so that the finished garmet when stretched in the waist at least 70 % contracts in the perpendicular direction at 20 %.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for the flat manufacture of three-dimensional articles, in particular absorbent disposable articles. According to the invention, a plurality of narrow, flexible absorbent bodies (1a-1g) are placed sequentially on a thin material web of liquid-impermeable material (2; 2') or liquid-permeable material, said pads having mutually diverging side surfaces on both sides of a central part of said pads intended to form the crotch parts of a manufactured article; placing a thin, second material web of liquid-permeable material (4) or liquid-impermeable material over said bodies and fastening second material web to the first material web (2; 2') so as to enclose each pad between the two material webs; and by rendering those parts of the mutually joined material webs located between the different pads contractable prior to or in conjunction with placing the liquid-permeable material web in position; and by then causing the contractable parts of the material webs to contract and therewith move the side surfaces of the pads towards one another. The invention also relates to an absorbent disposable article manufactured in accordance with the method.
