The plunger includes a contact face having a flange movably mounted thereto, wherein the flange is movable between an open configuration wherein an opening is formed between the flange and a portion of the plunger, the opening configured for engagement with an IV hook or other engagement member, and a closed configuration wherein the upper surfaces of the contact face and the flange are generally planar with one another.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to integrated systems, methods and apparatuses for assisting individuals in managing acute life-threatening conditions. A system in accordance with the current disclosure may comprise an electronic circuit configured to be attached to a container of a medication and one or more devices in communication with the electronic circuit in a private network. In an aspect, the one or more devices may work in concert to determine the safety level of an individual based on predetermined usage settings. In some aspects, the system may be configured to determine whether a medication would expire before its manufactured expiry date. In another aspect, the system may assist an individual in locating a medication. In a further aspect, the system may determine whether an individual is having an anaphylactic reaction. In some aspects, the system may detect a known allergen and alert the individual.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system and method for regulating fluid flow are disclosed. An apparatus for infusing fluid into a patient includes a housing, a tube-contact member, a rotating arm, and a tube-retention cover. The housing has an opening on a front side of the housing. The opening is sized to receive a drip chamber having an inlet tube and an outlet tube. The tube-contact member contacts one of the inlet tube and the output tube of the drip chamber when inserted into the opening. The rotating arm is coupled to the tube-contact member and is configured to rotate along an axis. The tube-retention cover is configured to close when the drip chamber is initially loaded into the opening.
Abstract:
A portable adapter is provided that can include a closure system configured to control the flow of blood and/or dialysate between the adapter and a blood treatment apparatus. Modular systems are also provided that include the portable adapter engaged with various units such as a portable blood processing module, a non-portable base module, and/or a remote module. Methods of conducting blood treatments such as blood circulation, hemodialysis, and hemofiltration, hemodiafiltration, using the modular systems are also provided. The systems, units, and methods enable the engagement and disengagement of the adapter from the various units to conduct, interrupt, and resume blood treatments without disconnecting the adapter from the vasculature of a patient. Modular systems including interchangeable portable and base modules configured for various blood treatments are also provided that can be engaged and disengaged with each other without disconnecting the portable module from the vasculature of a patient.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a intelligent ventilator system comprising a basic ventilator unit (10) with a housing comprising a main controller unit (12), a first display (14), a first controller unit (16) and a pneumatic system (18) for mechanically moving a gas into and out of the lungs of a patient. According to the invention a S-Viewer (20) is connected to the basic ventilator (10) and comprises a second display (22) and a second controller unit (24).
Abstract:
A combination of an inhaler and a refill pack. The inhaler comprises a reservoir (2) for an inhalable composition, a heating element (6) and/or vibrating transducer to selectively volatilise at least some components of the composition and at least one inhaler capacitor (8) arranged to supply electrical power to the heater and/or vibrating transducer when a user inhales from the inhaler. The refill pack comprises a refill reservoir (33) of inhalable composition and a battery (35) coupled to a refill capacitor (34), and is arranged to engage with the inhaler and to simultaneously refill the reservoir (2) and recharge the inhaler capacitor (8) from the refill capacitor (34). The invention also extends to the inhaler and refill pack separately and to a method of refilling and recharging the inhaler.
Abstract:
A syringe pump is disclosed that includes a body, a syringe seat, a syringe actuator, a memory, and one or more processors. The syringe seat is coupled to the body. The syringe actuator is configured to actuate a syringe secured within the syringe seat. The memory is configured to store a plurality of instructions. The one or more processors, in accordance with the plurality of instructions, is/are configured to: prime the syringe pump in a prime phase; determine if an occlusion exists during the prime phase using a first test; stop the prime phase; initiate fluid delivery into a patient; enter into a start-up phase; determine if an occlusion exists using a second test during the start-up phase; transition from the start-up phase into a steady-state phase; and determine if an occlusion exists during the steady-state phase using a third test.
Abstract:
An injector device (200) for use with a syringe (150) holding a medicament is disclosed. The syringe has a housing for accommodating the syringe and a heater (221) for heating the fluid held by the syringe whilst housed in the housing. Control logic (600) is provided for controlling the heating based on an error. The control logic accumulates an integral term when the error > 0 and disables accumulation of the integral term when the error 0. A vibrator (700) is provided for vibrating the syringe to mix the fluid.
Abstract:
A head-mounted respiratory assistance apparatus configured to provide a respiratory gases stream to a user. The head-mounted respiratory assistance has a main body securable to the head of a user and a blower unit that is operable to generate a pressurised gases stream from a supply of gases from the surrounding atmosphere. A patient interface is provided on the main body that has a gases inlet which is fluidly connected to the blower unit and which is configured to deliver the pressurised gases to the user's nose and/or mouth.
