Abstract:
Abstract:
An exercise machine is disclosed. The exercise machine comprises a pancake motor. The exercise machine comprises a torque controller coupled to the pancake motor. The exercise machine comprises a high resolution encoder coupled to the pancake motor.
Abstract:
A system and method for exercising that includes a first platform and a second platform connected together, the second platform movable with respect to the first platform. The second platform is connected to the first platform using a connector under tension to retract the second platform towards the first platform. The second platform can be extended away from the first platform within a plane of operation and is rotatable with respect to the first platform and is rotatable with respect to itself within the plane of operation.
Abstract:
A system for assisting a user in strength training with a strength training device comprises a torque source. One or more magnetorheological (MR) fluid clutch apparatuses has an input coupled to torque source to receive torque from the torque source, the MR fluid clutch apparatus controllable to transmit a variable amount of torque via an output thereof. A modulation interface couples the output of the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus to a force transmission of the training device. One or more sensors provide information indicative of a training action by the user. A training processor comprises a training effort calculator module for receiving the information indicative of the training action and for characterizing the training action, a training assistance controller module for determining a level of force assistance from the characterizing of the training action, and an assistance generator module for controlling the at least one MR fluid clutch apparatus in exerting the force assistance at said level on the force transmission of the training device to assist the user in the training action. A method for assisting a user in strength training with a MR fluid clutch apparatus is also provided.
Abstract:
A system and method for over speed and resistive training is provided. The method may comprise applying an assistive training force to a trainee which assists the self locomotion of the trainee to reach an over speed condition. The method may further comprise applying a resistive training force to the trainee which resists the self-locomotion to the training along the training path, the resistive training force being applied to the trainee while the trainer is in an over speed condition. The forces, either resistive or assistive, may vary linearly. The system may comprise a pair of modules, each module comprising a frame carrying a plurality of pulleys and a resistance cord. Each of the modules is adapted to provide a training vector to a trainee and is positioned on opposite side of training path to provide both resistive and assistive training vectors.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A treadmill system includes a deck, an endless tread belt covering at least a portion of the deck, a position sensor that senses a position of a user when the user is on the tread belt, and a control module that adjusts a speed of the tread belt in response to an output of the position sensor.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to an exercise machine that has a wide variety of adjustments that can be tailored to the user while operating the machine, without removing the user's hands from the machine's exercise handles. The exercise machine creates resistance through compressed gas in at least one pneumatic cylinder, whose resistance is adjusted via valves that are operated by wireless or wire controls incorporated into the exercise handles of the machine, so the user never needs to remove his hands from the exercise handle to adjust the resistance.
Abstract:
An apparatus for exercising may include a gripping assembly having a grip fixed to at least one spring member and at least one tether connected to the at least one spring member. The tether winds around the longitudinal axis of the at least one spring member. Also, an object may be connected to the tether. In some embodiments, the object may be a weight, an anchor, or a second gripping assembly. Alternatively, the apparatus may include a gripping assembly having at least one spring member connected to a tether and a grip connected to the tether. A free standing object may be connected to the tether. Methods according to the present disclosure use the apparatus by applying a force to the grip(s).
