Abstract:
A system and method for capturing and sharing console gaming data is described. Embodiments capture gameplay data directly at the gaming console, without the need for external hardware. This allows users to easily capture rich console gaming experiences and share them across a variety of outlets. In one embodiment, the methods described herein can be implemented with a patch or driver on the operating system of the user device, rendering it unnecessary to heavily modify the source code of the game.
Abstract:
An augmented reality system that includes a local representative equipment, a system control equipment and remote actor equipment. The local representative equipment captures audio and image data, as sensed data, in an activity area of an avatar player, the remote control unit receives a command data from a remote participant, and the system control equipment, in response to an enablement command, enables transmission of the sensed data from the local representative equipment to the remote actor equipment, and enables transmission of command data from the remote actor equipment to the local representative equipment. Moreover, the local representative equipment outputs the command data to the avatar player through the local interface unit and the remote control unit communicates the sensed data to the remote participant through the sensed data output unit.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented system initiating a new online video game in response to user input from a client device, the online video game being in a first state on a first server when initiated, executing the online video game on the server, thereby causing the online video game to enter into a second state, pausing or terminating the online video game, determining differences between the first state and the second state and generating difference data containing the differences, transmitting the difference data over a network to a second server, the second server, and recreating the second state from the difference data and the first state in response to user input indicating that the user wishes to resume the online video game and in response to the second server being selected as the server on which to execute the video game.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented system and method are described for encoding video For example, a method according to one embodiment comprises selecting a tile size for subdividing each image in a sequence of images based on a specified type of encoding algorithm to be used for encoding the tiles, wherein M tiles are encoded for each image, each tile being encoded according to a first encoding format or a second encoding format, each tile having a designated tile location within each image, specifying a rotating pattern to be used for encoding the tiles over a sequence of N images, the rotating pattern comprising encoding only certain tiles of each image using the first encoding format, and rotating the tile locations selected for the first encoding format over the N images to ensure that all M tiles have been encoded according to the first encoding format across the N images
Abstract:
Scheduled programmatic multiplayer game content in a console service is provided. A plurality of multiplayer game events is scheduled. Each event has a fixed start time and fixed end time. Requests from users to participate in event are received and a determination is made as to whether users electing to participate in the game are eligible to participate. If the user is eligible to participate in the game, instructions are provided to a console to allow the user to participate in the game. If the user is not eligible to participate in the game, instructions may be provided to a console to allow a user to view activity in the game.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and apparatuses for presenting video game contests via television. A system in accordance with one or more embodiments of the present invention comprises a network of gaming platforms, wherein the network of gaming platforms comprise at least one player platform and at least one spectator platform, each gaming platform in the network of gaming platforms having a video output, wherein the at least one spectator platform has a delayed start in the video game contest, a plurality of converters, each converter in the ρlurality of converters respectively coupled to the video outputs of the gaming platforms, a production facility, coupled to the plurality of converters, for viewing the video outputs of the gaming platforms via the plurality of converters and for selecting a chosen video output to be broadcast, and a broadcast system, coupled to the production facility, for distributing the chosen video output.
Abstract:
The method for game broadcasting on the Internet according to the present invention comprises: (a) a step to collect game data on the data exchanges, and file inputs and outputs, arising during the network games between a network game server and a player's computer, or between players' computers; (b) a step to process the collected game data and transmit the processed data so that they may be played back on a viewer's computer; and (c) a step to play back the network game on the viewer's computer using the game data transmitted from the relay server.Using the method and system for the Internet game broadcasting according to the present invention, a viewer at a remote site may watch a live game played at the time, or may watch a recorded game using the game data recorded in the network game database.
