Abstract:
A mobile device includes a memory, a wireless communication module, and a programmable processor operatively coupled together. The wireless communication module is configured to communicate within an ad hoc network with other mobile devices by wireless broadcasting. The programmable processor is instructed by computer executable code to: initiate an ad hoc network by self-identifying as a host device; receive requests to join the ad hoc network from participating mobile devices; assign a unique identifier to each of the host device and the participating mobile devices, the unique identifiers identifying the host device and the participating mobile devices as network participants; distribute to the participating mobile devices a list of the network participants, the list including the assigned unique identifiers; confirm receipt of the participant list by each of the participating mobile devices; and designate to the participating mobile devices a data exchange protocol for the ad hoc network.
Abstract:
A method for connecting an electronic device to a gamepad. The method includes providing a gamepad including one or more controls. The method also includes detecting a Bluetooth protocol. The method further includes detecting an electronic device. The method additionally includes connecting the gamepad to the electronic device wirelessly using the Bluetooth protocol.
Abstract:
The present invention contemplates a variety of improved methods and systems for providing an experience platform, as well as sentio or experience codecs, and experience agents for supporting the experience platform. The experience platform may be provided by a service provider to enable an experience provider to compose and direct a participant experience. The service provider monetizes the experience by charging the experience provider and/or the participants for services. The participant experience can involve one or more experience participants. The experience provider can create an experience with a variety of dimensions and features. As will be appreciated, the following description provides one paradigm for understanding the multi-dimensional experience available to the participants. There are many suitable ways of describing, characterizing and implementing the experience platform contemplated herein.
Abstract:
A video game server receiving user inputs related to an online video game to render a sequence of video images, a first stream encoder to compress the sequence of video images and generate a live video stream during a live gaming session with a user of a client device, the first stream encoder receiving channel feedback signals from the client device and responsively adapting compression of the sequence of video images based on channel feedback signals. A second stream encoder to compress the sequence of video images at a specified video quality and/or compression ratio unrelated to the channel feedback signal during the live gaming session with the user, thereby generating a High Quality (HQ) video stream, having a relatively higher video quality and/or lower compression ratio than the live video stream, and a storage device for storing the HQ video stream for subsequent playback to the user of the client device and to other users upon request
Abstract:
A method comprising running a game or application on a server of a hosting service system and constantly recording video/audio output of the game or application in a delay buffer. On periodic intervals reports are made to the hosting service system by a watchdog process whether the game or application is running smoothly. If the watchdog process fails to report in during a periodic interval, then collecting, by the hosting service system any available machine state of the game or application along with the video/audio recorded by the delay buffer.
Abstract:
An apparatus comprises a plurality of servers arranged in a parallel processing configuration to create a plurality of streams of low-latency streaming interactive video. Each server produces a stream of low-latency streaming interactive video. A unit combines the plurality of streams into a new stream of low-latency streaming interactive video. The unit is also operable to provide a user interface that allows real-time interactive manipulation of the resulting combined streams by a user.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a portable interactive game device with a separate console that provides enhanced game features and an alternate display for playing a game. The portable interactive game device interacts with the console to display the game on an alternate display connected with the console, such as a television or computer monitor. The console also contains additional game features to enhance the game and keep a user's interest. The portable interactive game device also contains a pedometer that is used in the game to encourage a user to walk around with the portable interactive game device. In one embodiment, the game is a virtual pet game for raising and nurturing a virtual pet that provides additional features of playing games and interacting with the virtual pet on a more complex level.
