Abstract:
Systems useful for reinforcing a support mat over at least one seam formed between upper and lower panels of the mat include at least one extruder configured to apply weld-forming material over the seam(s) to form at least one weld atop the seam(s) and at least one electronic controller associated with the extruder.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a thin film is provided. The method includes providing a plurality of crystalline hexagonal tungsten trioxide particles, size-reducing the crystalline hexagonal tungsten trioxide particles by grinding to produce crystalline hexagonal tungsten trioxide nanostructures, and coating the crystalline hexagonal tungsten trioxide nanostructures onto a substrate to produce a thin film. An electrochromic multi-layer stack is also provided.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for producing an extrusion-coated material, an extrusion-coated material produced by the process, an article comprising the extrusion-coated material as well as the use of the extrusion-coated material in a lamination process.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is an apparatus for applying a coating material to a wire, the apparatus comprising: a coating chamber for applying a thermosetting coating material to a wire passing through the coating chamber; an elongate injection channel for receiving coating material input to the coating apparatus at a first end of the injection channel and supplying the received coating material to the coating chamber that is arranged at a second end of the injection channel; and, a number of heating elements controllable to progressively raise the temperature of the coating material as the coating material flows through the coating apparatus to achieve a desired viscosity of the coating material within the coating chamber. Advantages include providing an industrial process for applying a coating to a wire that is easier, safer and cheaper than known solvent based techniques.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for manufacturing a conductive thin film are provided. In one arrangement, compositions of nanowires having different mean aspect ratios are mixed together and applied as a layer on a substrate. In other arrangements a single composition of nanowires is processed in order to increase an aspect ratio variance and the processed composition is applied as a layer on a substrate. The layers thus applied provide an improved balance of electrical conductivity to transparency and are expected to provide improved isotropy in the in-plane conductivity.
Abstract:
A thermally insulating stretchable down feather sheet and its method of manufacture is described. The core of the sheet is comprised of down feathers mixed with a binder which exhibits elastic properties. The core is sandwiched between a top and bottom stretchable elastomeric sheet having multi¬ directional stretchability. The core down feathers and the binder as well as the elastomeric sheet and bound together by heat treatment to provide a down feather insulating sheet which is stretchable in all directions without fractioning the sheet.
Abstract:
The manufacturing method of a gas diffusion layer for a fuel cell includes coating a first coating fluid for forming a microporous layer on one surface of a porous base material used for formation of a substrate layer, and coating a second coating fluid for water repellent treatment having a lower viscosity than the viscosity of the first coating fluid on the other surface of the base material facing downward in the direction of gravity.
Abstract:
There is provided a process for manufacturing a release liner, comprising the steps of providing a web of film; subjecting at least a first surface of the film web to a first plasma discharge treatment in the presence of a gas which effectively functionalises the first surface of the film web to provide thereon functional groups which are capable of actively binding to a release compound and/or a precursor thereof; and subsequently depositing a coating of a release compound onto the functionalised first surface of the film web by contacting a vapour comprising the release compound and/or a precursor thereof with the functionalised first surface during a second plasma discharge treatment.
