Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an improved method for transferring an image (40) onto an object (10) which has a surface that curves I two directions. After providing a source (50) containing an image (40) capable of thermal transfer, a target surface (20) is chosen on the object (10) and a chemical coating (340) is applied. The image (40) is then pressed onto the coated target surface (20) until the target surface (20) is substantially flat and heated so that the image (40) is transferred to the target surface (20). The coating (340) allows the image (40) to be transferred at a low temperature. In a preferred embodiment, after the source (50) is removed, a second application of heat is applied to the object (10) to drive the image (40) into the object (10). A protective material (120) may be positioned between the heating element (160) and the image (40), especially before the second application of heat.
Abstract:
A protective adhesive film may include a polyurethane sheet and an adhesive layer disposed on at least a portion of a first major surface of the polyurethane sheet. The adhesive layer may comprise a pressure-sensitive adhesive that includes an acrylate polymer and a silicone macromer. The adhesive layer may adhere to a surface of an electronic device without the application of any liquid or additive to the adhesive layer or the surface of the electronic device.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of finishing a wood surface for exterior exposure of the wood using a finishing film material in the form of a sheet. The finishing film comprises a flexible polymeric sheet material having a first major surface and a second major surface and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer covering at least a portion of the first major surface of the sheet material. The finishing film is adhered to the surface to the wood surface by the adhesive layer. The method of the present invention is particularly suitable for the finishing of brightwork on boats, for example, teak or mahogany brightwork. The method of the present invention is particularly suitable for finishing curved and/or compound curved surfaces due to the flexibility and elongation of the finishing film.
Abstract:
A tubular support member located in a distal portion of an elongate flexible medical device is provided with a plurality of wall openings, e.g., axially-spaced, substantially transverse slots, formed therein to thereby increase a flexibility of the support member. A layer of sealing material overlays an outer surface the support member so as to provide a sealed portion of the support member including the wall openings, the sealing material having respective flexible invaginations formed therein overlaying the wall openings in the support member so that the sealing material does not substantially impede flexibility of the support member.

Abstract:
A method of manufacturing paint roller covers is disclosed in which the paint roller covers are manufactured from a seamless, tubular knitted pile fabric sleeve that is installed onto a core member. To facilitate the manufacture of the paint roller covers, the outside of the core member is provided with an adhesive bonding material on the exterior surface thereof that has a relatively non-tacky outer surface. The knitted pile fabric sleeve is installed onto the exterior surface of the core member over the adhesive bonding material. The adhesive bonding material is then rendered tacky, whereupon the knitted pile fabric sleeve becomes adhesively secured by the adhesive bonding material to the exterior surface of the core member. The pile fabric covered core member may be finished into paint roller covers by combing and shearing the pile fabric to a desired length, beveling the edges of the paint roller covers, and vacuuming stray fibers from the paint roller covers.
Abstract:
A tubular sliver knit fabric is disclosed that is manufactured with the pile extending from the outer side thereof and in an extended length, small diameter configuration, the tubular sliver knit pile fabric subsequently being separable into shorter tubular segments that may be secured to paint roller cover cores to produce seamless paint rollers. The sliver knit paint roller cover fabric of the present invention is manufactured in a tubular segment with the sliver fibers being located on the outside of the tubular sliver knit paint roller cover fabric. The tubular sliver knit paint roller cover fabric of the present invention is also manufactured in a size that makes it appropriate for installation onto paint roller cover cores.
