A method of blow molding an article having at least one layer of thermoplastic material. The method comprises the steps of heating a mold having an inner surface with two or more areas of different surface textures to a first temperature of greater than 55℃and subsequently feeding a parison into the mold. The parison is then blown against the inner surface of the mold to form an article. The temperature of the mold is subsequently lowered to a second temperature of between 20℃to about 55℃and the temperature cycle time (t ct ) of the mold is less than 250 seconds. Using the two phase heating and cooling process in combination with a mold featuring different surface textures provides a finished article with different visual effects.

A final injection molded assembly and process for making same that eliminates paint and reduces areas of wasted chrome material. The final injection molded assembly has at least one first injection molded part of a non-plateable first material, at least one overmolded part of plateable second material, at least one pathway through the assembly and integrated features operable for selectively applying an electric current. The pathway creates a predetermined surface path arrangement for applying chrome to desired predetermined plateable areas. A shot of each material is delivered to an injection molding rotary device to produce the injection molded assembly which is then affixed to a chroming process line where electric current is applied. As the electric current is applied and chrome is delivered only the plateable second material will accept the chrome.

A reinforced polymer composite comprises a polymeric barrier layer that comprises a barrier layer first surface, a barrier layer second surface, and a plurality of hard segment domains. A reinforced polymer composite also comprises a reinforced polymeric layer covering at least a portion of the barrier layer first surface, wherein the barrier layer second surface exhibits a Class A quality, and wherein the plurality of hard segment domains substantially suppress deformation of the polymeric barrier layer at a molding temperature of the reinforced polymer composite. Optionally, an in-mold coating that has a Class A surface covers at least a portion of the barrier layer second surface.

Disclosed herein is a method for performing a surface polishing treatment for thermoplastic resin while extrusion-molding the thermoplastic resin, to prepare a highly-glossy extruded product. The method includes performing a surface treatment to give high gloss to a surface of a thermoplastic resin plasticized in an extruder while causing the thermoplastic resin to con¬ tinuously pass through a die of a relatively-high temperature and a die of a relatively-low temperature in a nozzle region, and controlling the temperature at a trailing end of the high- temperature die and the temperature at a leading end of the low-temperature die such that there is a temperature difference of 30 to 2000C. It is possible to give gloss to an extruded product through a continuous extrusion process without addition of a glazing agent or execution of a separate surface treatment process, and thus, to provide excellent effects in terms of manu¬ facturing costs and production efficiency.
