Abstract:
A combination of a tractor unit (10) and a wheeled trailer combination, preferably a mobile screening plant (100), in which the tractor unit (10) has endless tracks (11) to render the combination highly manoeuvrable, and carries an upwardly and downwardly adjustable "fifth wheel coupling" (13) which pivotally connects the forward end (115) of the screening plant (100), the latter having a wheelset (118) at its rear end, and in which the screening plant (100) has an input hopper (114), an elevator (112) for conveying material to be screened from the hopper to a screen box (117), and plant one or more discharge conveyor (121, 123) for discharging screened material to form one or more stockpile of screened material.
Abstract:
Abstract:
Abstract:
A hydrodynamic bearing that includes a carrier (10) and a plurality of bearing pads (1120, 1121) circumferentially-spaced about the carrier (10). The bearing has a multimode configuration for supporting a shaft that rotates in two or more distinct modes. The multimode bearing includes a carrier (10) for supporting two or more distinct sets of bearing pads (1120, 1121). Each set of bearing pads (1120, 1121) includes bearing pads (1120, 1121) that include a pad portion (1126, 1129) and a support portion (1124, 1125, 1130). The bearing pads (1120, 1121) of each set are supported by the carrier (10).
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention relates to automatic adjustment of a tow vehicle's (110) coupling arrangement (111), such that a trailer (120) can be disengaged from the vehicle (110) as smoothly as 5 possible. After engagement of at least one support leg (122) of the trailer (120), a fluid operated level control mechanism (112, 114) lowers the coupling arrangement (111) until this arrange- m e n t reaches a reference elevation (h ref ), which is determined by a respective length of the at least one support leg (122). 10 After having reached the reference elevation (h ref ), the fluid pressure (P) in a fluid chamber (112) of the level control mechanism is continued to be lowered until a lowering of the coupling arrangement (111) below the reference elevation (h ref ) is detected. Thereafter, the coupling arrangement (111) is re-elevated to a level being equal to the reference elevation (h ref ). At this point in time, the trailer (120) can be disengaged from the vehicle (110) without risking that the vehicle (110) drops down or hops up.
Abstract:
A fifth wheel assembly (10) comprising a lower support structure (12) adapted to be mounted on the chassis of a prime mover and an upper support plate (13) upon which a trailer is to be supported, and between which a cam operated linkage mechanism is incorporated which has a pair of spaced apart main link assemblies (14) pivotally attached at one end (19) to the lower support structure and pivotally attached adjacent their other ends (18) to the upper support plate. Cam members (15) are pivotally supported on the link assemblies with their cam surfaces in contact with the lower support structure, whereby rotation of the cam members pivots said link assemblies upwardly about their pivotal connections to said lower support structure to thereby raise the upper support plate attached to the other ends of said link assemblies. A pair of spaced apart strut assemblies (20) are also provided pivotally connected at one end (21) to respective ones of said main link assemblies and detachably connected at their other ends, to the lower support structure via a pin (28) extending through a number of alternative arrangements of aligned holes (23, 24, 25, 26, 27), and such as to hold said upper support plate relative to said lower support structure in one of a number of alternative positions.
Abstract:
A secondary towing apparatus (11) particularly suited for a towing vehicle (10) having a conventional fifth wheel coupling device (15), which towing vehicle is to be made convertible from towing a trailer to towing an alternate type vehicle. The towing apparatus comprises a boom (16) to be mounted on the chassis of the towing vehicle for movement from a stowed position (Figure 2) to a towing position (Figure 1), the boom when in the stowed position accommodating normal operation of the coupling device and the boom when in the towing position accommodating towing engagement with the alternate vehicle.
