L'invention porte sur un procédé et une installation de combustion par oxydo-réduction en boucle chimique (CLC) d'une charge hydrocarbonée gazeuse, par exemple du gaz naturel comprenant essentiellement du méthane. Selon l'invention un reformage catalytique de la charge est effectué au sein de la zone de réduction où s'opère la combustion de la charge au contact d'une masse active oxydo-réductrice sous forme de particules. Le catalyseur de reformage est sous forme de particules fluidisées non transportées au sein de la zone de réduction. Le catalyseur ainsi confiné au sein de la zone de réduction ne circule pas dans la boucle CLC.

Useful fuel sources include, for example, biofeedstocks (e.g., carbohydrates, triglycerides, polyols, and biodiesel). The process is preferably carried out by partial oxidation. A method and catalysts and fuel processing apparatus for producing a hydrogen-rich gas, such as a hydrogen-rich syngas are disclosed. According to the method, a CO-containing gas, such as a syngas, contacts a platinum-free ruthenium-cobalt water gas shift ("WGS") catalyst, in the presence of water and preferably at a temperature of less than about 450°C, to produce a hydrogen-rich gas, such as a hydrogen-rich syngas. Also disclosed is a platinum-free ruthenium-cobalt water gas shift catalyst formulated from: a) Ru, its oxides or mixtures thereof; b) Co, Mo, their oxides or mixtures thereof; and c) at least one of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, Ti, Zr, Cr, Fe, La, Ce, Eu, their oxides and mixtures thereof. The WGS catalyst may be supported on a carrier, such as any one member or a combination of alumina, zirconia, titania, ceria, magnesia, lanthania, niobia, zeolite, perovskite, silica clay, yttria and iron oxide. Fuel processors containing such water gas shift catalysts are also disclosed.

The present invention relates to stabilized supports stable at temperatures above 800 °C, and method of preparing such supports, which includes adding a rare earth metal to an aluminum-containing precursor prior to calcining. The present invention can be more specifically seen as a support, process and catalyst wherein the stabilized alumina catalyst support comprises a rare earth aluminate with a molar ratio of aluminum to rare earth metal greater than 5:1 and, optionally, an aluminum oxide. More particularly, the invention relates to the use of catalysts comprising rhodium, ruthenium, iridium, or combinations thereof, loaded onto said stabilized supports for the synthesis gas production via partial oxidation of light hydrocarbons, and further relates to gas-to-liquids conversion processes.

The catalyst contains an inorganic oxide support; a platinum group metal dispersed on the inorganic oxide support; and a methane suppressing dispersed on the inorganic oxide support. The methane suppressing component is selected from the group consisting of oxides of tin, oxides of gallium and combinations thereof. Also provided are preferred catalyst preparations.
