Abstract:
Abstract:
A composition for transforming a chrysotile asbestos-containing material into a non-asbestos material is disclosed, wherein the composition comprises water, at least about 30 % by weight of a hexafluorosilicate salt, and free of or having only small amounts of an inorganic acid, an inorganic acid salt or a mixture thereof. A method of transforming the asbestos-containing material into a non-asbestos material using the present composition is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A composition for transforming a chrysotile asbestos-containing material into a non-asbestos material is disclosed, wherein the composition comprises water, at least about 30 % by weight of an acid component, optionally a source of fluoride ions, and a corrosion inhibiting amount of thiourea, a lower alkylthiourea, a C8-C15 alkylpyridinium halide or mixtures thereof. A method of transforming an asbestos-containing building material, while part of a building structure, into a non-asbestos material by using the present composition also is disclosed.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to the field of fiber reinforced cement (FRC) composition for preparing articles. The FRC composition of the present disclosure comprises: i. polyester fibers having gear shaped cross section in an amount in the range of 0.05 to 5%; ii. cement in an amount in the range of 30 to 60%; iii. asbestos fiber in an amount less than 14%; iv. pulp in an amount in the range of 0.5 to 5%; and v. at least one filler in an amount in the range of 30 to 50%. The FRC composition of the present disclosure employs reduced amount of asbestos fibers and the articles prepared from the FRC composition of the present disclosure have improved mechanical properties.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A mounting mat for an exhaust gas treatment device includes a blend of inorganic fibers and organic nanofibrillated fibers. An exhaust gas treatment device includes a housing and a fragile structure mounted within the housing by the mounting mat that is disposed in a gap between the housing and the fragile catalyst support structure. Additionally disclosed are methods of making a mounting mat for an exhaust gas treatment device and for making an exhaust gas treatment device incorporating the mounting mat.
Abstract:
The present invention is a direct reactive process of inorganic polymerization used to obtain composites whose polymeric matrix does not require chemical or thermal pre-activation of the mixture reactors of specific natural aluminosilicates and varied aggregates, in the manufacture of alternatives to ceramics, Portland cement, timber, gypsum and metallic frames, through an adequate mixture added to the inorganic matrix of one or more natural aggregates (silica, limestone, hydrated lime, vermiculite, asbestos fibers) combined or not with synthetic alkaline-resistant aggregates (tire rubber, polypropylene fibers, nylon, PVA). To these, an alkaline solution of water and sodium hydroxide and/or potassium hydroxide will be added for the molding or extrusion and cutting out of artifacts, which will be oven-dried and polymerized at temperatures between 100°C and 500°C.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a sprayable covering for asbestos cement surfaces, containing binding agents and filling materials in a liquid, solvent, dispersion or powder form. The inventive covering provides a means for coating and incorporating free fibres, fungi, algae, lichen and moss on asbestos cement surfaces in compliance with the legal requirements of TRGS 519, whereby uncoated asbestos products can be coated but cannot be cleaned.
