    摘要: The present invention relates to a method of producing foam such as a closed cell, rigid polyurethane foam which employs CO2 as the predominate blowing agent and incorporates a dichloroethylene. The CO2 is preferably produced in situ via the reaction of water, in part B, and isocyanate, in part A. The water and the dichloroethylene are preferably incorporated into the polyol or B part of the components. It was found that including a dichloroethylene in the polyol or B part reduced the viscosity of the B part and provided for better flow of the B part in the production/mixing equipment. It also provides for better mixing of the B part and the A part which results in a more uniform foam. The inclusion of a dichloroethylene in the B part also enhances certain properties of the resulting foam such as brittleness and adhesion.

    摘要: There is provided herein a composition comprising: (a) a flexible polyurethane foam-forming mixture and; an effective flame retarding amount of at least one nan halogen-containing cyclic phosphate ester of the general formula (I) wherein R1 and R2, are the same or different, linear or branched alkyl group containing from up to about 10 carbon atoms, optionally containing heteroatom substituents, provided that R1 and R2 are not both methyl; and R3-R7 are each independently hydrogen or the same or different linear or branched alkyl group containing up to about 4 carbon atoms, optionally containing heteroatom substituents; provided that the cyclic phosphate ester is a liquid or is substantially soluble in at least one different liquid flame retardant and/or the hydroxyl-containing component of the flexible polyurethane foam-forming mixture; the cyclic phosphate ester of formula (I) contains at least 8.5 weight percent phosphorous based on the total weight of any phosphorous containing component(s); and, provided that the composition is in the absence of melamine compound. There is also provided a flame retardant additive composition comprising the cyclic phosphate ester of formula (I) and at least one different liquid flame retardant, Further, there is provided a process of making a flame retarded polyurethane foam mixture.

    摘要: A phenolic foam is made by foaming and curing a foamable phenolic resin composition that comprises a phenolic resin, a blowing agent, an acid catalyst and an inorganic filler. The blowing agent comprises a blend of chlorinated aliphatic hydrocarbon containing 2 to 5 carbon atoms and an aliphatic hydrocarbon containing from 3 to 6 carbon atoms mixed in a ratio of 60/40 to 95/5 parts by weight. The inorganic filler is at least one selected from a metal hydroxide, a metal oxide, a metal carbonate and a metal powder. The phenolic foam has a pH of 5 or more and a water uptake less than 1 kg/m 2 . A phenolic foam with a higher pH value compared with conventional phenolic foam reduces corrosion risk when in contact with metallic materials. The phenolic foam maintains excellent long-term stable thermal insulation performance, low water uptake and fire resistance performance and by using the said blowing agent, does not harm the environment as an ozone or global warming depleting material.
