Particle-toughened polymer compositions include a base polymer formulation and a plurality of toughening particles. In certain embodiments, the base polymer formulation includes bismaleimides or other polymer resins capable of high temperature service. A first plurality of toughening particles may include core shell rubbers. A second plurality of toughening particles may be selected from a variety of polymer compositions, including polyimides, polyether ketone (PEK), polyether ether ketone (PEEK), polyether ketone ketone (PEKK), polyether imide, polyether sulfones, and polyphenylene oxide. It is found that increasing concentration of the core shell rubbers may improve the toughness of the composition while preserving thermal properties of the composition, such as glass transition temperature.

The compounds comprise at least one electron- transporting moiety and at least one hole-transporting moiety which are joined by a flexible linker. Hybrid host materials comprising the compounds exhibit stability against phase separation, elevated glass transition temperature, morphological stability against crystallization, and isolation of the electron transporting moiety and hole transporting moiety π-systems.

In accordance with the present invention, there are provided methods to improve the performance properties of thermoset polymer resins prepared by the activation of one or more reactive monomer(s) which is(are) initiated by way of a first reaction mechanism at a defined temperature (typically a temperature in the range of 40 - 200°C). Exemplary performance properties which are improved by the invention methods include enhanced thermal stability, tensile strength (which is maintained in spite of exposure to elevated temperatures over extended periods of time), adhesive properties (which are substantially maintained in spite of exposure to elevated temperatures over extended periods of time), weight loss (which is minimized in spite of exposure to elevated temperatures over extended periods of time), dielectric strength (which is substantially maintained in spite of exposure to elevated temperatures over extended periods of time), and the like.

Mechanisch stabilisierte Polyazole enthaltend mindestens einen Polyvinylalkohol Verfahren zur Herstellung mechanisch stabilisierter Polyazole, umfassend die folgenden Schritte: I) Behandlung mindestens eines Polyazols mit mindestens einer Aminogruppe in einer Wiederholungseinheit mit einer Lösung, umfassend (i) mindestens eine starke Säure und (ii) mindestens einem Stabilisierungs-Reagenz, wobei der Gesamtgehalt an Stabilisierung-Reagenzien in der Lösung im Bereich 0,01 bis 30 Gew.-% liegt, II) Durchführung der Stabilisierungsreaktion direkt und/oder in einem nachfolgenden Verarbeitungsschritt durch Erwärmung auf eine Temperatur größer 25°C, wobei man als Stabilisierungs-Reagenz mindestens einen Polyvinylalkohol einsetzt. Die so erhältlichen Polyazole zeichnen insbesondere durch eine hohe Leitfähigkeit und eine sehr gute mechanische Stabilität aus. Sie eignen sich daher insbesondere für Anwendungen in Brennstoffzellen.

A thermoplastic resin composition comprising (A) a polyolefin-type thermoplastic elastomer or a similar thermoplastic resin, (B) an organopolysiloxane represented by the following average unit formula: R 1 a SiO (4-a)/2 {where R 1 is a univalent hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms, and "a" is a number in the range of 1.95 to 2.05}, and (C) a metal deactivator; and a product molded from the aforementioned composition. The thermoplastic resin composition is suitable for obtaining molded products that are characterized by their ability to suppress development of defects on the product surfaces after long-term outdoor exposure.

본 발명은 다공성 고분자 지지체 위에 방향족 탄화수소계 고분자 이온교환막을 형성하고, 상기 이온교환막의 표면에 나노-크랙의 모폴로지 패턴을 갖는 소수성 박막 코팅층을 포함하는 자기-가습성 이온교환 복합막에 관한 것이다. 본 발명에 따라 제조된 자기-가습성 이온교환 복합막은 열적·화학적 안정성 및 기계적 강도가 우수할 뿐만 아니라, 이온교환 능력 및 장기 구동안정성이 뛰어나며, 고온 저가습 조건에서도 자기 수화 능력을 나타내므로, 연료전지용 전해질막 또는 수처리용 분리막 등에 응용되어 상용화가 가능할 것으로 기대된다.
