Two-part, room temperature curable polyacrylate compistions, which may be cured to produce cured polyacrylate compositions. The two-component curable polyacrylate composition comprises at least one polyacrylate polymer in at least one of the parts; at least one (meth)acrylate monomer in at least one of the parts; at least one filler in at least one of the parts; an oxidizing agent in one part and a reducing agent in a part that does not include the oxidizing agent. Cured reaction products of these compositions are resistant to coolant and oil and are useful, for example, as gaskets, sealants, potting materials, and adhesive materials.

An adhesive composition includes a first acrylic polymer preparable from first components and a second acrylic polymer. The first components comprising i) a branched first alkyl (meth)acrylate having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms, and ii) at least one of acrylic acid and methacrylic acid. The second acrylic polymer is preparable from second components comprising iii) at least one second alkyl (meth)acrylate having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms, iv) a (meth)acrylamide represented by formula (I) wherein R 1 is H or methyl, and R 2 and R 3 each independently represents H or an alkyl group having from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, or taken together R 2 and R 3 may form a divalent alkylene group having from 4 to 6 carbon atoms, and v) at least one high T g macromer having a terminal free-radically polymerizable unsaturated group, the high T g macromer having a T g of at least 45°C. Based on the combined total weight of the at least one first acrylic polymer and the at least one second acrylic polymer, the at least one second acrylic polymer is present at a level of from 5 to 40 percent by weight. Methods of making the adhesive composition are also disclosed.

Embodiments of this invention relate to adhesives, and more particularly to biomimetic heteropolymer adhesive compositions. Certain embodiments relate to biomimetic terpolymer adhesive compositions including dopamine methacrylamide, 3,4- dihydroxyphenylalanine, or 3,4-dihy droxy styrene, mimicking moieties found in marine mussel adhesive proteins. In some embodiments, elastic moduli of the adhesives are preferably selected to match the elastic moduli of the substrates to minimize stress concentrations, to increase the ductility of the adhesive-substrate system, or both.

Optically clear curable adhesive films that are heat conformable prior to setting include a reactive composition. The curable films are flexible and free-standing, and have a complex viscosity of greater than 100,000 poise (10,000 Pascal seconds) at 25°C and less than 100 poise (10 Pascal seconds) at 85°C, prior to setting. The set film has an adhesive shear strength of greater than 100 Newtons per square centimeter (N/cm 2 ) to a glass substrate when measured according to the Shear Adhesion Test Method. The reactive composition includes an ethylenically unsaturated polyester-containing oligomeric composition that is the reaction product of a saturated, amorphous co-polyester polyol and a compound with a terminal polyol-reactive group and a terminal ethylenically unsaturated group, a (meth)acrylate functional material, and at least one initiator.
