Abstract:
Methods and fluid compositions are provided for decreasing an amount of sulfur-containing compounds in downhole fluids and/or subterranean reservoir wellbores by including at least one enzyme destabilizer in a fluid composition. The fluid composition may then be circulated into a subterranean reservoir wellbore. The fluid composition may further include a base fluid and at least one sulfur producing enzyme. The base fluid may be or include, but is not limited to, drilling fluids, servicing fluids, production fluids, completion fluids, injection fluids, refinery fluids, and combinations thereof. The enzyme destabilizer(s) may be destabilize the sulfur producing enzymes and thereby decrease an amount of sulfur-containing compounds produced vis-a-vis the sulfur producing enzyme(s).
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hydrogen sulphide scavenging additive composition for scavenging hydrogen sulphide including sulfur containing compounds and mercaptans, particularly for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbons, wherein the additive composition comprises substantially reduced amount of nitrogen based hydrogen sulfide scavengers, and is also required in substantially reduced amount, and wherein the additive composition scavenges the sulfur containing compounds not only at room temperature, but also at higher temperatures, and comprises at least a combination of: (A) at least one nitrogen based hydrogen sulfide scavenger; and (B) at least one aliphatic tertiary amine, wherein the nitrogen based hydrogen sulfide scavenger comprises triazine based hydrogen sulfide scavenger. In one embodiment, it also relates to a method for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbons, and in another embodiment it relates to a method of using an additive composition of the present invention for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbons. In yet another embodiment, it relates to a composition comprising (i) a hydrocarbon and (ii) a hydrogen sulfide scavenging additive composition for scavenging hydrogen sulfide in hydrocarbons.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to methods for removing deposits in an oil or gas well by contacting the annular fluid in a batch-wise method with an effective amount of a composition comprising a water-soluble copolymer. These methods are advantageous because they can be used as needed to improve well operation. The methods use a water-soluble copolymer comprised of an acrylamide monomer and one or more cationic monomer.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a composition comprising 1. ) a metal carboxylate, wherein the metal M is selected from the group consisting of Ag, Cn, Hg, Pb, Sn, Ni, Co, Ca, Fe, Zn and Mn, those metals being present as ions in a +2 or +3 charge state, and wherein the carboxylate anion is derived from a hydrocarbyl monocarboxylic acid having 5 to 20 carbon atoms, or a mixture of such acids, 2. ) a solvent selected from the group consisting of water, glycol ethers having from 4 to 15 carbon atoms, alkyl alcohols having from 1 to 10 carbons, and aromatic hydrocarbon solvents having from 6 to 30 carbons, and 3.) an emulsion breaker which is a polymeric nonionic surfactant.
Abstract:
Composition for the removal or inactivation of hydrogen sulfide or other species comprising ionizable sulfur ( e.g ., mercaptans, thiols, etc.) using compositions containing acrylonitrile and/or derivatives thereof are provided. Methods for the removal or inactivation of hydrogen sulfide or other sulfur species in oilfield sites and other related applications using compositions containing acrylonitrile and/or derivatives thereof are provided.
Abstract:
A cement for use in wells in which hydrogen sulfide is present, comprises polymer particles. In the event of cement-matrix failure, or bonding failure between the cement/casing interface or the cement/borehole-wall interface, the polymer particles swell when contacted by hydrogen sulfide. The swelling seals voids in the cement matrix, or along the bonding interfaces, thereby restoring zonal isolation.
Abstract:
A system for producing oil and/or gas comprising a system for producing oil and/or gas comprising a formation comprising a mixture of oil and/or gas and a carbon disulfide formulation and/or a carbon oxysulfide formulation; a mechanism for releasing a separating agent into the formation, the separating agent adapted to separate the oil and/or gas from the carbon disulfide formulation and/or the carbon oxysulfide formulation.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to compositions, systems and methods for removing iron sulfide scale from a solid object, such as an oilfield component. The compositions include a carbon-carbon (C-C) double bond with an electron withdrawing group bonded to at least one of the double-bonded carbons.
Abstract:
Sulfide stress cracking of a metal component may be inhibited by treating the metal component with a mixture comprising at least one organic aldehyde and at least one surfactant. Such metal components may be those suitable for use in a downhole environment, at a well site, in a storage facility, in a transportation infrastructure, in a refinery facility, and any combination thereof where the metal component may be exposed to hydrogen sulfide.
