Câblé textile aramide (50) à au moins triple torsion (T1, T2, T3), comportant au moins N brins (20a, 20b, 20c, 20d), N étant supérieur à 1, retordus ensemble selon une torsion finale T3 et une direction finale D2, chaque brin étant constitué de M pré-brins (10a, 10b, 10c), M étant supérieur à 1, eux-mêmes tordus ensemble selon une torsion intermédiaire T2 (T2a, T2b, T2c, T2d) et une direction intermédiaire D1 opposée à D2, chaque pré-brin consistant lui-même en un filé (5) qui a été tordu préalablement sur lui-même selon une torsion initiale T1 (T1a, T1b, T1c) et la direction D1, dans lequel au moins la moitié des N fois M filés sont des filés aramides. Ce câblé textile est avantageusement utilisable comme renfort dans les pneumatiques pour véhicules, en particulier dans la ceinture ou dans l'armature de carcasse de ces pneumatiques.

This invention discloses a steel cord. The steel cord comprises a plurality of strands twisted together with a cord twist pitch. Each strand comprises a plurality of filaments twisted together with a strand twist pitch. The elongation at break of the steel cord is no less than 5%. The strand comprises a strand twist angle. The steel cord comprises a cord twist angle. When the sum of the strand twist angle and the cord twist angle is between 20 and 29 degree, the structural elongation of the steel cord is no less than 2.0%. When the sum of the strand twist angle and the cord twist angle is between 30 and 38 degree, the structural elongation of the steel cord is no less than 2.5%. When the sum of the strand twist angle and the cord twist angle is between 39 and 48 degree, the structural elongation of the steel cord is no less than 3.0%. Preferably, the structural elongation of the steel cord is no more than 4.0%. The steel cord has high elongation at break, high structural elongation and high rubber penetration. This invention also provides a pneumatic tire comprising the steel cord mentioned above.

The strands and the filaments are twisted in a same direction. The lay length of the cord is Lc and the lay length of said strand is Ls. The ratio of Ls to Lc (Ls/Lc) ranges from 0.25 to 1. Lc ranges from 16 mm to 26 mm. The strands are helically preformed. The E-modulus of the cord is more than 150000 N/mm2. The helical preforming of the strands allows to obtain a high elongation at break and a high E-modulus despite its long lay length Lc.

A yarn which is prepared by doubling polytrimethylene terephthalate fibers, in particular, polytrimethylene terephthalate multifilament fibers having a single yarn fiber fineness of 1 to 56 dtex, and has a total fineness of 2000 to 22000 dtex; a gut comprising a yarn which is prepared by doubling polytrimethylene terephthalate multifilament fibers having a single fiber fineness of 1 to 56 dtex and has a total fineness of 7000 to 22000 dtex; and a string for a musical instrument comprising a yarn which is prepared by doubling polytrimethylene terephthalate multifilament fibers having a single fiber fineness of 1 to 56 dtex and has a total fineness of 2000 to 14000 dtex. The yarn has high strength and a high ratio for the recovery of elasticity and the retention of stress, and is excellent in water resistance, softness and homogeneity. The gut can be stretched on a frame of a racket for tennis or the like, exhibits high rebound resilience when stretched, and retains satisfactory rebound resilience for a long period of time, and further is excellent in impact resistance, durability, and water resistance. The string for a musical instrument shows a reduced change of interval due to the elapse of time and the change of humidity and is excellent in tuning characteristics.

A cable as may be used in a tire, including a pneumatic tire. The cable is constructed in a manner that can provide a desired stiffness to a tire as well as a certain amount of structural elongation. The cable can be provided in a manner that does not necessarily result in an increase in the overall weight of the tire as would occur by e.g., increasing the diameter of a conventional cable construction.
